Update: Back in the States after spending a few months abroad in Japan. Because why not. :]

I like to think of myself as a mix of creativity and common sense. I love writing, I majored in studio art, and I play bass/guitar in a sorta cover band. On the other hand, I'm work as a manager at a local software developer. Still, I'm an artist at heart, who can appreciate a spirited debate or just good conversation with a friend about civil policies, politics, and the like.

I've lived in a few different states throughout my life, from Georgia to Hawaii (though not necessarily in that order). Recently, I visited Argentina on business, and I've been known to drop in on Japan for vacation.

In general, I love being creative and finding new outlets for creative expression. I love to laugh, but I'm not a fan of comedy. People can't always quite figure me out -- which neither can I usually, but I like to think it keeps things interesting.

During my day job, I'm usually face down in resource sheets and project planning -- perhaps the least fun parts of software development. After hours I'm an artist, a musician, and published author.

I currently spend much of my free time editing the sequel to my first novel, along with general book promotion.

Ambition. If you're not aiming for something in life, what's the point? And if you're not happy, you should be aiming for something. I'll admit, people without ambition in life generally bore me. It's not that you have to have everything figured out -- I certainly don't. But at least refuse to stand still.

If it's someone just striking up a conversation, I've been told I'm very polite. I come from the school of southern hospitality, so mostly I say 'please' and 'thank you' a lot, greet strangers with a nod and smile, and always hold the door open for the next person.

If they're stopping by my desk at work, it's probably that I'm kind of a nerd. I have a pretty awesome Batman TAS figure right next to a couple Spiderman & Venom busts and a nicely blossoming DBZ diorama.

Update: Two new Batman figures and a Wonder Woman mug added to my diorama. Yes, this was a necessary addendum.

Movies: Die Hard, The Dark Knight, the Indiana Jones trilogy (There was no fourth movie), Aliens, Terminator 1, 2, 3, (not 4), Gattaca, Being Human (BBC version), Breaking Bad, Sherlock Holmes, Mononoke Hime, anything by Miyazaki, Akira, anything by Otomo. Most anything by Pixar. I really dig movies with well-written dialog.

Music: I love rock/heavy metal/alternative/whatever if it has a good guitar line. Most of the bands I listen to are Japanese, though in the realm of non-Japanese music, I like bands like Mr. Big, Audioslave, and Coheed & Cambria.

Books: Does my sketchbook count? I carry one in my purse, so it's with me any time I'm struck with inspiration or boredom.
If I have to answer the question legitimately, I've been into Japanese Horror manga lately, like Tomie, MPD Psycho, and Uzumaki. I can while away many hours in a bookstore.

Food: Yakiniku, Yakitori, Ramen, Tonkatsu, Japanese food in general, also love Korean and Thai.
