My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I can summarize myself in many and few words; I will do both here, because, hey, it is a page entirely dedicated to me.

I am a complex person who is looking for something very particular. Twice I have thought I have found that but have come up short for a variety of reasons best left out of a self summary dedicated to attracting perspective people. What I want in a person is inexorably tied to who I am. If I was going to chose a series of words that captures me I would chose the following: intense, dedicated, noble, difficult, romantic, logical, and . You will likely not meet many people like me and for the bulk of people they will never know that they have. I have a stoic exterior that is the byproduct of genetics and a view on life that could be described as reserved. For most of you that may read this, I am likely not worth the difficulty involved. I accept that fact, it’s the nature of life. I should pause and mention that this is only true for deeper connections, the kind that can be built into something amazing, which is what I seek.

For all my vaunted stoicism I am quite good at talking about just about anything. Get me in a discussion and meet me in the middle on keeping it going and I can talk forever, be it through messages, IMs, or in person. I am opinionated, and often have one about even the most inane things. I know very odd assortment of things and carry an array of interests to go along with that. If after reading through this profile, or perhaps the old one, you wish to chat with me be willing and ready to help me carry the conversation. I can talk about anything but that does not mean I want to be the one asking all the questions, or blabbering on just me. It is import to me to feel engaged by the person that has piqued my interest. As I said before, for most people I am not going to be worth the difficulty it takes a unique person to handle me. Endearing? Again it takes all sorts of unique people…

Some help for what may make you wish to carry on with me? I love books, specifically fantasy which will be more apparent below. Within that what really draws me is in depth characterization, unique worlds, and books that keep me turning the pages because I have developed an emotional connection to the characters. The same can be said for video games, TV, and movies. These are just stories with a visual component or an interactive one. I will play games and watch movies and shows that are not story driven, or bring something unique but my favorites, the ones that stay with me, are when characters and story really grab me, be it comedy, drama, or even action.

Yes, I am a gamer. Board games, dice, role playing, video games, the whole gambit. I am happy to be a nerd as it pertains to my interests but to do not confuse my self proclaimed nerdom with some form of short coming in terms of my ability to interact with the world. My interest in computers, books, science, and knowledge are matched by an enjoyment of the outside world, travel, good food, cooking good food, sports (though I much prefer to play things like ultimate Frisbee, racquet ball, and volleyball), fine arts, and so much more.

I love music as my giant library will attest to. When I find a sound and voice I like I tend to really get into it, regardless of genre. I am terrible at remembering who sang what song though, or what a song is called unless I have deliberately committed it to memory. This means I often go digging for a song I hear on the radio to find what it is, sometimes on a hunt using one small phrase I grasped.

I am an aspiring writer. I have created a world; I have populated it, and start to tell a story set there. It is ever an ongoing process that is refined and developed. Few things make me happier than finding someone earnestly interested in hearing all about it, but how much I divulge is completely dependent on your level of interest and what you ask me. I have an entire world… so that’s a lot to tell. Why did I do all this? The short answer is because I wanted to see if I could and it went from there. I have finished one novel start to finish, corrections, additions, and alterations notwithstanding.

I have recently finished my Master’s in Microbiology. It was a very difficult thing that took a lot out of me the last two and a half years. But it is done and I am glad for that and the finished product. That said I am recovering from the hours and hours spent writing the thesis and the experiments needed to produce it. It was a huge stress in my life that needs to be gotten rid of.

That is a good overview of talking points, specifics will be found below in the lists.

Now more importantly to me is what I am searching for. I love new friends, I like meeting new people and learning about them. When it comes to the romantic, and why not this is a dating site, it is more complex than just talking about stuff.

I am looking for someone who I can talk to for hours and not notice. That is not to say that eliminates all those who are shy or slow going to start, but the truth is if I am not challenged then it will not go somewhere higher. I need the back and forth, I need the push and pull. Optimally I would like to find a person that likes to get at what makes a person tick as much as I do. I just find that I am more interested when the person across from me, literally or figuratively, is asking me questions and the conversation flows. I know this thing here is a very hard one and takes a lot of time to develop, so of course I am not assuming a person will just pop up without the weird getting to know you period. I know what I want, so I hope you do too.

Shared interests make a lot of this easier but I am passionate about mine and I like that kind of fire in another. But teach me something too; introduce me to your interests. I learned a lot about makeup and the art that can be done with it because I met some one that was passionate about it. I like learning new things. I have always been attracted to those that can do art, music, or the like. Things I cannot do but have a high appreciation for.

I place a large emphasis on earning trust and keeping my word. I am different to those I trust and there is much that goes on in my mind that does not translate directly to my face or body language. Like I said, difficult. I seek love and will not settle for less than that kind of connection. I expect the worse and hope for the best in all things. It is a duality that is both pessimism and optimism.

I am a romantic, not hopeless I hope. I have written a story of love and dedication in my novel. I would very much like to write a better one in this world. I have learned a lot from failures and experience in the past. I try to do better and learn from mistakes. When in a relationship I do strive to do my best. I once made a seven course meal for Valentine Day, in case anyone was looking for good boyfriend credentials. I am dedicated even if I get it wrong the first time. In the end I am worth being bet on because I will amaze you. I may be looking for amazing but I am not foolish to believe I cannot offer the same in return while expecting that.

I can write forever, but let’s not.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have just ceased being a graduate student at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. I have completed my master’s in microbiology, it was a bitch of a project but it is done. This mean I am currently looking for a job in my field so I can have some time to develop some experience and get a handle on where I want to take this degree. There are a lot of options and they are not decided on lightly.

On top of this I am working on a series of novels I would like to try and publish one day. More importantly is telling the story I have in my mind. As I mentioned above I have a whole world and it is constantly being built further and further. It is an interesting thing to create so much.

I am also looking for new friends and one person in particular that can truly astound me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am good at listening and talking. I find both have been a little disused as I finished my masters but it is a good time to brush that dust off.

Being hard to read and taking advantage of that to mess with people.

I am an excellent gamer. I play all sorts of games from RTS to RPG, to FPS, and puzzles. Board games and table top role playing games are something I adore even if it makes me a nerd. My imagination is one of my greatest tools and a lot of my ability to write comes from all this.

I aspire to be a great writer and try to constantly improve what I put to paper. I have only become more productively critical of what I have written as I go on. I have finished one novel and am working on the second and have outlines for three others. A big undertaking but it really gets away from you when you start this kind of thing. I also love to read, but saying I am really good at reading makes me sound special.

I am great with technology, it helps growing up with the computer. I like gadgets and powerful CPUs.

Food is as a great as an interest as anything else I may list. I love to cook and eat. I have only grown more confident in my abilities and have been putting them to the test. I have crafted some recipes of my own, refined others, and learned to use many more with skill. I love cooking for people who appreciate food and love being cooked for.

I am good at many things but listening to me go on is tedious even for me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have broad shoulders, I have blue eyes, and I am hard to read. All of these things are noticeable depending on who you are. I have three white spots, birthmarks, on the back of my head but no one ever mentions those, sometimes I wonder if they have vanished. I would notice that but I am weird.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Fantasy primarily. I collected Dragonlance but have moved on to newer things in more recent times. I also enjoy thrillers, mystery, several classics, sci fi, and reading in general. Hannibal Lector series is a particular favorite and The Watchmen graphic novel is a favorite as well. I always like to read new books and have them recommended, The Night Watch series is a phenomenal set of books and blends fantasy elements very well into a modern world. Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay is a new favorite and I consider it the one of the best written books from start to finish, it is essentially perfect. I have read some of his other work, the Fionavar Tapestry is also great. Kay has become my favorite author, which is too bad because no one knows for some weird ass reason.

A Song of Ice and Fire, which while outstanding, leads me to both hate and love George R. R. Martin. If you have read the series likely you understand why. I love it though, even if he is a sadistic bastard.

I have enjoyed Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson, and am getting into Terry Pratchet.

Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite sunday comic and pretty much anything compared to it now a days falls short in its ability to convey more complex comedy and true character development without overstaying its welcome; though I do find that many online comics have filled the void that Calvin and Hobbes left.

I find online comics are the better medium now. Those that I follow religiously are: Questionable Content, Ctrl Alt Del, Order of the Stick, Erfworld, PVPonline, XKCD, Dr. Mcninja, Girls with Slingshots, and Penny Arcade. Anytime I find a new comic I tend to blaze through the backlog and catch up far too fast. Girls with slingshots is the newest one to this list.

Movies: I love movies and everything from love stories to action and everything in between. Some favorites: Dark Knight, Lord of the Rings, Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale, Walk Hard, Watchmen, The Departed, UP, Kickass, the newest Star Trek, Pulp Fiction and anything Tarantino, No Country for Old Men... the list goes on and on.

Music: Everything with a particular love for Classic Rock, and rock in general. Not a huge fan of gangster rap and a lot of the pop music that is out at a given time. Some particular favorites: Bruce Springsteen, Evanescence (I love amazing female lead vocalists in general), Taylor Swift (amazing voice), VnV nation, Eminem (Amazing song writer, he has a lot to say typically), Johnny Cash, Dewie Cox, Alison Krause, Brandi Carlile, Eric Clapton, Finger Eleven, Foo Fighter, Stroke 9, HIM, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Vitamin String Quartet. This is but a smattering of artists to just show the wide range that I appreciate. I've more recently found some new bands I really like: The National, Ours, The Band Perry (Though its only one single right now), Scala (In particular their cover of Creep), David Gray, and a good chunk of Placebo's music. Florence and the Machine and Madrugada are new favorites recently discovered.

Food: I love good (and often expensive or high end) food, I tend to remember great meals and love to go out and try new restaurants. Italian, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Lebanese, Indian and Mexican are some of my favorites. I am also a very good cook though I am less inclined to be extravagant for just me. I also love apples and am glad it is apple season once more. I am a firm supporter that pie beats cake, and have only found one cake that can shake my firm belief in pie but that cake was something else entirely. I have more recently delved into baking with success.

TV: I do not tend to watch the shows on the TV itself as I never am very good at arranging my time around the TV, so I watch it on my time. Dexter is my favorite show as it has some of the best character development and plot I have ever seen. This is followed closely by House which has proven it can grow its characters. Community is very well done and the cast interacts exceedingly well and the writers do a lot of unique stuff with the show, I hope it remains fresh for some time. Add Castle to the list as it is quite entertaining. I also enjoy The Office, The Big Bang Theory, and South Park.

I recently added Mad Men to the list of shows that are wicked good. The show is so subtle and builds so well its like watching a novel. The acting is superb and the attention to detail excellent. I start out wondering what is this show going to do, and it drew me in. Walking Dead is also excellent.

Parks and Recreation is also a new favorite I find the show hilarious and Ron Swanson may be my new hero.

Add Modern Family to the list now too because it is awesome.

A special mention for Dead Like Me, Firefly, and Rome despite being off the air for a while now they are still some of my favorites. Better Off Ted was also amazing, it is a pity it was so good most people would not like it. The price to bay for being cynical and so very above most people's heads.

And the Happy Tree Friends, do not watch this unless you can laugh at morbid humor, but I find it often hilarious.

I am avid role player both table top and video games and love the genre; DnD tends to be my personal favorite and I in particular love the ability to create characters whom take on aspects of you but are very different. Dungeons and Dragons is a place to flex my creativity and get my writing more developed and my book closer to a more complete state. Besides being a nerd is fun.

Board games and card games are a close second some personal favorites are Clue, Monopoly(though it tends to degenerate into fists fights...), Munchkin, Last Night on Earth, Settlers/Seafarers of Catan, Arkham Horror, A lot of standard and lesser known card games, spades , Euchre, and some family created games are amongst my favorites, I also like Risk despite how long it takes.

Computer wise: Starcraft, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Left for Dead, Dungeon Defenders, Fallout, and many others. This is just what comes to mind now. I also love old SNES RPGs my favorite still is Chrono Trigger. I've player so many games in my life and I am not sure if I should be proud or worried by that.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My computer, my family, good food, books, my friends, and my droid. The last has replaced air as it is my favorite gadget and freaking awesome, it also lets me keep in touch with people very easily which is huge for coordinating with friends and family.

To expound as I am apt to do,

I could not live without my computer as it is my link to information which I crave and actively pursue. If I find something I want to know more on the computer is often the best route for this. Games and everything while fun and an exciting medium for story telling and entertainment can be replaced. The computer is also a primary source of communication, to keep in touch with people that may otherwise be difficult to do so. On the same thread it also allows you to meet great people you otherwise would not have.

With family I am close to most of them and I really could not imagine a world where I did not have that support net they represent. Holidays would be a lot less enjoyable and I would not have a multitude of good memories without them.

Good food and cooking go together largely. Few things are as rewarding as preparing something people love to eat. I remember trips and vacations largely based on the dining experiences and can remember meals I had years ago. It is never just about the food but all the sensory information and the people you are there with. Few meals I remember vividly include just me.

Books and reading; being a collector of various comics, graphic novels, novels, and other things in book form it would be hard to go around without the bookshelves. If I want to look at something, or read it, or look something up I have many things at hand. I have spent a lot of life collecting and saving books, I have many from my childhood some I passed on to my niece recently which I hope stay in as good a condition as I kept them in. Reading inspires me and without that feed of new ideas and thought provacation I would be much less creative.

Friends are a lot like family for me, though they tend to be less stable just due to how the world works. Friends some times come and go but I always remember their impact on my life. They help me develop as a person and keep me sane, give me new ideas, and introduce me to new hobbies and other enjoyable things.

I will leave this explanation here as I like it. I chose air for a reason not, just to be a smart ass, though it was part of it. Air carries sounds, and smells two of my favorite senses. I enjoy conversing and listening to others and getting to know people which would be impossible without air to move the sound waves. Smells of good food, familiar environments, and generally the world around also travels by air, without smell memory would not work as well and food would not taste as great.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What is going to come next and what has come before. What I have lost and if I will find it again.

The job hunt and how to best use this master's.

My books and my world and how to proceed forward with it. How I am going to proceed with life. Also, what do I want for dinner comes to mind often.

The book I am writing is an ongoing process with highs and lows but is developing well I think I will seriously push for getting it to a finished state and a goal is to see it published for better or worse.

How much I want a dog, more so with my own passing away this past year, and how it just is not possible right now. I love German Shepherds and miss mine, who passed on after many years while I was at school. It was a very sad day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Spending time with close friends, working out, or home alone.

I am not a bar goer, I have nothing against those that do I just chose not to drink. I like much more close knit things like board games, movies, and the smaller groups.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have the most adorable niece in the world, literally everyone that looks at her pictures immediately goes 'awww'. Also they grow up much to fast but they are still adorable.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You read the wall of text and still want to talk to me. That is fairly impressive a feat in itself. If you can carry on a conversation that goes both ways. You want to connect with someone on various levels.

You like dry dead pan humor or random nerdery as it relates to humor, alpha nerds (the kings of a nerd pack won through possession of knowledge of subjects most would just shake their heads at), long involved conversations about things you shouldn't be having long involved conversations about, creating elaborate conspiracy theories for the sake of humor, or you have something to talk about that involves me or shared interests. Or you think I am interesting and want to find out if its true. Or hey if you just want some one to talk to.

If you are amazing, even if you don't know it. Doesn't hurt if you are a nerdy girl, who likes eating and cooking good food, has a quick wit, is funny, and it likely helps if you find me interesting.
