What I’m doing with my life
Striving for clutchness.
Whatever makes me better.
Fomenting a rebellion against idiocracy. General fomentation.
Trying to make it meaningful and fun.
I’m really good at
Appreciating the humor in the most awkward, uncomfortable situations.
Being present, self-aware, conscientious and open.
Navigating streets and transit systems in foreign cities.
Thoughtful conversation.
Making guacamole.
Turning nouns into verbs.
Embracing new experiences.
Cards against humanity.
The first things people usually notice about me
Maybe that I like to say things they weren't expecting. But I've never asked so I don't really know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is where I try to impress you with my sophisticated tastes. But these are just things I like; they don't define my identity. I don't think we necessarily need to share the same tastes in movies, music, etc. because I like to be introduced to new stuff.

I'm a bit of a David Foster Wallace fanatic. It's hard to imagine enjoying another novel as much as Infinite Jest, but I also dig his stories and essays. He makes me love writing and think I should give it up all at the same time. Also enjoy a lot of other contemporary fiction, and non-fiction writers like Gladwell and Michael Pollan.

Instead of listing all the movies I like, I'll just say that I dig anything with a compelling story, well-crafted dialogue and/or multi-dimensional characters -- comedies, dramas, documentaries, whatever. But don't worry, I am not going to tell you why Fritz Lang's use of light and shadow so elegantly underscores the despair of post-industrial society in Metropolis or something pretentious like that. At least not that exactly.

I know everyone says this, but I love all kinds of music -- hip hop, old/new rock, jazz, funk, blues. Here's what's been in my heavy rotation recently: Jack White, A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Eels, Band of Horses, Mountain Goats, Grant Green, Donald Byrd, John Mayall, Black Keys, Zeppelin, Alabama Shakes, The Foreign Exchange, Talib Kweli, Outkast.

When it comes to food, I love to eat, cook, and am pretty adventurous in doing both.
The six things I could never do without
Pen and paper.
The unexpected.
Quiet moments of reflection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My master plan. How I wish I had more time to spend thinking about things. Why it's important to do things instead of thinking about them. Why Somali pirates are the world's leading source of awesome situations. The genius of Louis C.K. Also, magnets.
On a typical Friday night I am
hoping this is the night the 12 Galaxies guy finally gets what he's been working so hard for all these years.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Every year I still hold out hope that they're going to call my name at the NBA draft.
