I am stubborn, good-natured, and paradoxical.

My Self-Summary

Hi. My name is Daniel and I'm 22. I'm sort of a person who marches to the beat of his own drum. I'm sort of dorky because I love video games and computers and stuff like that, but I also really love the game of football, and especially the NFL. I'm sort of shy but at the same time pretty talkative once you get me going. :)

What I’m doing with my life

I live in the Champaign area part of the time too.
But I'm pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with Journalism as my minor. Real exciting huh? I want to be a writer as a full time job, and I think I have enough talent to be one, but I just need more patience and motivation I guess (and probably an editor :P). I worked for a newspaper for a couple of years, which is ironic because I'm not all that outgoing, but it was pretty fun. I decided to quit because I want to focus on getting my degree in Criminal Justice. I'm attracted to the law aspect of CJ, but also the problem-solving aspects. I wasn't too fond of Death investigation and analysis but it made for some pretty interesting stories. :)

I’m really good at

Being Myself. I'm not sure there is really one specific thing I totally excel at, but I can do a variety of things. I'm sort of the "Jack of all trades" type of person.

The first things people usually notice about me

Umm my inner essence of light that envelops me in the very embodiment of celestial and ethereal brilliance.....

probably my eyes actually.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
I like Choose-Your-Own Adventure books and I don't care if they had lame storylines or were for kids I thought they were so cool.
I also am going to out my inner dork and admit that I love Classics/Mythology/Fantasy/SciFi all of that stuff. I even think Fairy Tales are cool despite the name because the real ones written in the middle ages are actually really screwed up(look up "Bluebeard" if you don't believe me). I also like books that aren't gory but are creepy and mess with your head. I come from a religious background so I obviously have affinity for the bible. But I'm sort of confused spiritually right now.

Movies:
As far as movies that I think are very good I like "epic" types of films. Like the Lord of the Rings, 300, Saving Private Ryan.
I'm sort of aggressive when it comes to movies because for whatever reason I'm like a movie snob and I'm never relaxed when I watch a movie. I'm very snobbish and cynical when it comes to movies and I love to lampoon them. Even movies considered good I'll just make snide comments constantly about them sort of like MST3K. It's really embarassing because I'll laugh at scenes other people cry about. I have no idea why I'm so aggressive toward them but whatever. I like however when movies are really really bad because then they in my mind become good and redeemed. Santa Claus Conquers The Martians is one of these.

I like TV alot more because
1. You don't have to pay to see it
2. It doesn't take itself seriously
3. It's actually more intimate as a medium
4. It isn't hollywood (most of the time)
5. A series can last a long time. Think about it: say you have the best movie that speaks to you the most and then the best TV show, you can get SOOO much deeper into the TV show in my opinion. And if it's just a fun stupid show you want there are tons of them too.
LostThe Twilight ZoneThe Invisible ManNCISWalker Texas RangerMartial Law The OfficeBurn Notice are some of my favorites.

Music: Once again heres some irony. I was a DJ for my college's radio station WPCD, but I can't really say music really influences me very much. I know I'm totally weird. I'm extremely ignorant about music practically on Geico Caveman levels. Every single one of my friends, the old ladies at the bingo hall, homeless people, and just about any mammal on the planet have better taste in music then I do. I beat out maybe lizards or something. I listen to freakin' soundtracks half the time and the worst part is one of the only musicians I like is well...Okay I'm so close to telling who it is but it's really embarrassing especially for a guy to admit to, but her music I just like and I have no explanation other than that it's proof I'm the lamest person in the world when it comes to music.

The six things I could never do without

I don't know if I have material objects that I could NEVER do without. Certainly I have things that have stuff that has alot of either monetary or sentimental value but nothing I'd want that badly. If people/animals are excluded then I'd want the 6 best memories of my life:
I grew up as an only child in an big, old, creaky house in a depressed area of upstate New York. Sounds like the plot of a bad movie, but I remember when I used to knock icicles off of the house with a broom. And my parents would create literal tunnels of snow for me to crawl through, because that area of the country would get several feet of snow. I remember having a fun and cool childhood. The reason I say all that is that I was a passenger in a car crash about 4-5 years ago that gave me a concussion and made me lose some of my memory but I worked at it and time eventually healed everything and so I guess that's something I don't think I could do without again.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Just alot of things I'm a deep thinker, and sometimes to be honest a worrier. I sometimes wish everything stayed the same, so that good times would keep rollin', and every day would be better than the last. But then I wake up to my alarm screeching at me and I head downstairs to find someone has been flinging Sav-A-lot brand pot roasts at the apartment complex and I thank God for change. A part of me loves the safety of things never changing, but also loves the absurdity of everything changing. I love things that are unexpected but don't mind things that are I guess is a better way of wording that. I don't really think like alot of people I know, but that doesn't mean I'm smarter or they are smarter just that there sometimes is a difference in our thought processes. I sort of am typing out this weird stream of consciousness thing

On a typical Friday night I am

At any number of places.
I'm a homebody most of the time.
After all:
“Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.” -Charles Dickens.

And I'm sure apartments in the Carbondale ghetto apply too.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

nah

You should message me if

Your interested in me period. If that's like just friends, you have a question, your utterly smitten by me, then that's fine. If you want to message me then message me, because you have nothing to lose it's not like I'm going to call you out like: "HOW DARE YOU SEND ME A MESSAGE!!" I mean that would be messed up and kind of funny and Darnit now I sort of want to do that but I won't do it on your message I promise.
