I am thinking, too hard, and about this.

My Self-Summary

an idealistic girl (read: poor), who laughs in the face of fear, and in the face of people who make me laugh. i cry in the face of. . decision-making, missing seattle (i lived there for 4 years before moving back to memphis).
i sigh in the face of people too close-minded to hear any perspective contrary to their own and people who say they hate memphis but won't try to make it better or just move and quit whining. and i dance in the face of any music that has a beat (ok, outside techno), and with others who love life!

What I’m doing with my life

I want to change the world, and so, i start with me. basically, i'm running a lot and trying to get in shape. Volunteering- teaching English as a second language, and working with at-risk kids in the raleigh neighborhood. taking my dog to shelby farms dog park every chance i get, substitute teaching, and plotting my escape from my parents' house. oh, and paying student loans forever. and trying to discover my "special purpose" . also teach guitar among other jobs. . . . .

I’m really good at

karaoke- (personal bests: rock with you by mj don't speak - no doubt smells like teen spirit- nirvana), dancing down the aisle at the supermarket (or anywhere), running beside, pushing, and jumping on metal playground merry-go-rounds, making up random songs, finding silver linings, running my mouth, procrastinating, laughing at things that are only mildly humorous, making u-turns, being cheesy.

The first things people usually notice about me

depending on the day-the fact that i smile a lot. Actually had a co-worker say behind my back, "what's wrong with her? why is she smiling all the time?" (answer: i killed a man, just to watch him die.)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

all malcolm gladwell books, outliers, blink, tipping point. . .extremely loud and incredibly close. . .

while you were sleeping, the jerk, and eternal sunshine have to be up there, science of sleep. .

in no order, sufjan, death cab, india arie, ting tings, stevie wonder, M.I.A., snow patrol, the police, white stripes, jose gonzalez, justin timberlake, coldplay, BEP among others ..

oddly enough, I am starting to like vegetables in my older age.

The six things I could never do without

butterfly kisses, after bedtime prayers. . .

I spend a lot of time thinking about

how to fix things. not like a clock. but like, race relations in memphis, fixing the way the church gets the gospel and the american dream mixed up, the inabliity to have a decent conversation between conservatives and liberals . . .what i want to be when i grow up.

On a typical Friday night I am

on top of the piano, in my sequined dress, belting out, "Memories."

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i have to pee.

You should message me if

you have suggestions of good books to read, or great coffee shops/live music to hear in memphis,.. . i have a sad lack of funny, smart, interesting/weird people to talk to, i have a sinking feeling someone fitting this description is reading these exact words....
