My Self-Summary
What I’m doing with my life
I did a degree in philosophy because it interested me deeply. It sill does, but my day to day existence nowadays involves precious few profound moments of reflection and deep thought. I found that throwing away your TV helps clear the mind. I am enjoying my life, but if I thought too long and hard about it I suspect the feeling of unease would swell up and either result in depression or the outburst of motivation necessary to make radical changes in my life. But change what? That is the question I should be asking myself, but I find myself forever evading this confrontation with myself. In fact I cannot recall the last time I thought about such matters; maybe pondering the self assessment questions of a dating website is just what I needed to reveal myself?
I would have liked to have pursued philosophy, or another academic subject further, but financial restraints hit home. Being a non-vocational subject, my lack of conviction in wanting to become a lecturer ultimately turned me a way from further education. With no career in mind, I merely ended up starting as an office temp to earn some cash. A couple of years down the line and they've hooked you in on a permanent contract complete with a stakeholder pension contribution. I hope the epiphany is coming soon, for my deepest fear is one day waking up, realising that I'm 67 and have done nothing.
So.. I take life day by day.. don't make any long term plans, nor any medium-term plans... just try to enjoy myself.... at the back of my mind I realise sooner or later I need to plot some kind of course. But, alas, I'll do that later.
I do know that I need to travel the world and feel that it would be a more rewarding experience when youth is still on my side.
