My self-summary
Third generation Wyoming Native Son. Left Wyoming at 23 after my Bachelor's. Spent three years in ATL, the heart of the Dirty South. Another three years in Connecticut, followed by yet another three in East Germany. Back to the states for a brief respite before the next adventure begins!
What I’m doing with my life
Pretty much my main goal in life is to be a professor. I have a PhD in physics, and one postdoc done. Now, I am learning all about funding and other administrative bullshits that goes with the job, under guidance of the AFRL and through OSU. The plan is to start tenure-track soon; preferably in the Rocky Mountains, Pacific Coast, South Pacific, or in Western Europe.

I've accepted a Research Officer at Massey University, and I will be moving to New Zealand in late May. As nice as Ohio is, I really need some mountains and an ocean nearby.
I’m really good at
I have many interests. Professionally, I am really good at math & physics, or at least I enjoy their challenges; my speciality is in computational physics. I play several musical instruments and compose in my spare time. My other strong "hobby" is analog audio engineering. I like to work with my hands for fun; i.e. auto repair, bowyery, luthiery, smithing, and gardening. I dream one day of owning a barn/quonset workshop for weekend puttering, and would like to have an accompanying greenhouse.
The first things people usually notice about me
My mouth. I swear like a sailor, but I try to control the F-bombs when kids are around. Then my humor. I like to make a lot of inside jokes where I'll be the only one laughing and I love puns. Once, a gal at a party wouldn't let off about how I was Rainer Werner Fassbinder's doppelgänger - personally, I don't see it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love scifi. Frank Hubert is my favorite, but also like Phillip Dick and Larry Niven. Non-scifi, I love weird fiction (like Hermann Hesse) and am quite a Vonnegut fanatic - my personalized signed 'sketch' from him is one of my most prized objects.
Movies: I like dark comedies, e.g. Death to Smoochy and Being John Malkovich. I also avidly watch anything J.P. Jeunet touches. My other favorite directors are Miyazaki and del Toro. I like cinematography that has lots of light and dark, and contrasts between the two (both in color and mood) - technicolor Wizard of Oz is a benchmark for this. I also like movies that evoke emotions that take me out of my comfort zone, and help me see life in a different perspective.
TV: With this media, I'm like an eight year old kid - it's gotta be cartoons. South Park, the MacFarlane collection, pretty much all Adult Swim programs. Live action, I enjoy Fringe, Always Sunny, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Arrested Development was YEARS ahead of its time - such genius! I also like many BBC productions, such as The Mighty Boosh and Red Dwarf.
Music: If it isn't jam-based, it's background noise for me. I was a Phishhead for many years, but haven't really enjoyed them since the hiatus. Umphrey's McGee is my #1 favorite band - seen them four times in 2012, and planning two more in 2013. Other groups I really like are RAQ, Animal Liberation Orchestra, Perpetual Groove, and the Samples. I hate to admit it, but I am also really getting into opera as well, Don Giovanni & Tannenhauser top my list.
Food: I'm a fat man - all food is good by me. Indian is #1 in my book though. Russian cuisine is pretty tasty, and most mid-Eastern fare (especially Persian) I find very healthy yet flavorful.
Sports: I don't like gridiron - don't care a lick about any college or pro teams. Same goes for basketball. I've been getting into watching rugby (go All Blacks!), and really love cross-country skiing. I'm not good at it, but I do like snowboarding. After relocating to New Zealand, I intend to learn to surf. I like these sports where you can set a personal goal, train your form and muscle control, and only compete with yourself.
The six things I could never do without
My guitar (her name is Delilah and she's my best friend), a pen and paper, the book Dune, blue skies, and good winds (I am from Wyoming, after all).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Physics. I'm a physicist. Go figure...Secondly, probably song lyrics; I am constantly twisting and sculpting my babies.
On a typical Friday night I am
Practicing guitar, working an 18 hour day, watching a movie with a beer, or reading a good book in a soak. I don't much enjoy the weekend meat markets.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wear my socks inside out - mild OCD. I have a tic where I flutter my fingers. I mutter to myself when deep in thought, and like to pace and walk out physics/maths problems I'm working on. I sing in the shower to get myself in a good mood. I'm clumsy and absent-minded; I've ran into door-jambs, streetlights, and parkbenches countless times. My father accidentally ran me over with a golf cart when I was five, and I still have the scar. As you may see, I'm pretty much an open-book guy.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
You want to catch a movie, grab some eats, go to a show, or just hang out. Being a physicist in a new town, my social life is virtually non-existent. If you are interested, please message!
