My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First, a series of blurbs about me from one of my best Lesbian Friends:

Things I love about Martin:
-The guy's fucking talented as hell.
-He's got some of the best taste in music you'll ever find
-Really sweet, really generous, and smart as a whip
-One word: Moxie
-Halloween costume in 2008: Wikipedia
-He will laugh at your jokes. And it will feel like Patrick Stewart just complemented your diction.

So, in my own words: I recently completed my MFA in sound design for theater! When I'm not working on a show, I'm seeing some art house film, play, or rock concert. In addition to design, I'm also starting to create some installation art.

My other major hobby is traveling, one of the best parts of the design gig is to work on a show, and take it on the road. Of late, the road has been just the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, but at least it's on the other side of the pond.

Around LA, I love eating, seeing rock, theater, movies, and gallery hopping.

Also, I live downtown. For me, there's something important about being able to walk to work, take the subway to the ArcLight, etc. I think of it as giving a metaphorical finger to the prescribed LA lifestyle every day!

I am this, that, and the other
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing records at parties... what is not supposed to be a dance party will become one if I'm left unchecked.

Finding discounts for event tickets... when you see as much as I do, it helps to know how to work the system.

Pub trivia. Alcohol and useless knowledge, the best combination.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My laugh. The sideburns.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Films: Metropolitan, F for Fake, Lost Highway, Lost in Translation, Night Watch, JCVD, anything Pixar

Books: War Reporting for Cowards, Any play by Tom Stoppard or Will Eno, You Shall Know our Velocity, Good Omens, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Tender Buttons

Music: Too much to even functionally describe... If it's playing Disney Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, or any venue located in between, I'll probably like it!

Right now I'm kind of obsessed with the modern art scene... soso limited (, gelitin ( are two good examples.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Institutions of Culture within an easy drive (I lived for three years in West Virginia... trust me, no culture [defined as good rock music, films with less than three explosions, museums, etc.] killed me!), Art House Cinemas, Family, My laptop, My work, my books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whatever show(s) I happen to be working on at the time, politics, and the next concert I happen to be seeing. New idioms for performance.

(During baseball season) How the Cubs are doing.

(During Hockey season) How the Blackhawks are doing.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Since I work in Theater, Sunday night is generally my Friday night, so I'm trying to rock out whatever way I can (this week, for instance, I'm seeing the band !!! at the Troubadour).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I Rick Rolled my friend's wedding rehearsal dinner (admittedly with her consent).

Also, all of my cell phone alerts are taken from this ( ) album.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
The conversation about what you just saw (be it a rock concert, play, art exhibition, etc.) is more satisfying than the event itself.
