My self-summary
Music brings joy, music brings life. It is the joy of self expression that allows us to be unique and share the brightness of our individuality with the world. This sharing begets the receiving that which is beautiful.
What I’m doing with my life
Listening:
This takes up a lot of my life. I enjoy sounds, all kinds of sounds. When I am anywhere within earshot of someone laughing I cannot help myself and must laugh right along with them. I listen to people tell me stories; their stories, their version of someone else's stories or just observations. Win/Win they feel good about telling me stuff/ i enjoy their stories.

I record audio and create audio imagery. This takes a LOT of listening. If I want something to sound like a forest I have to close my eyes and imagine sitting in a forest and hearing every little layer of sound that breathes into my ears. Some shrill and calling, some as faint as a whisper playfully tickling my earlobe.

Making people dance:
This is my favorite thing in the world. I make myself dance all the time (usually while in the kitchen sautéing kale, baking cupcakes or mixing muffins while Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass spins on my stereo) and I know just how good it feels. When I get to play bass on stage and make lots of people feel this good, I know I could die and be happy with my contribution to society

Telling stories:
Everyone likes hearing good stories. Everyone needs to hear stories. Admit it, you like stories.

Feeding people but not animals:
After moving to LA from New York City about 3 years ago, I immediately looked up the local CSA to see where I could start getting the best local veggies. I found them online, joined and then ended up volunteering with them once a week (tons of free awesome produce!). Now 3 years later I helped them make it a viable business as well as an awesome way to support local farmers and promote school gardens/lunch programs.

I lived in a guest house in koreatown about a year ago with a nice yard. I used to leave extra pieces of fruit out for the opossum that scuttled along the fence at night. This guy was huge (i have a picture!) and ugly, but kind of cool, so I left the little guy some orange slices, old lettuce, squash... The ending to this story has both a touching quality and another quality that is slightly unfavorable. So I decided not to feed animals that can otherwise find food on their own.
The first things people usually notice about me
...are hopefully sexy or, if they are my students, then something inspirational.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I think it is fitting to include food in a list of entertainment. i feel like i eat books, drink music and partake in movies and television, on rare occasion a bit gluttonously.

Recently, I've swallowed most of Orson Scott Card's works, a good deal of Steinbeck and Murakami. I consistently chew on good history. And as much as I love Virginia Wolfe, for some reason I've been gnawing on Waves for at least five years and still haven't finished it. I love Alan Lightman's 'Einstein's Dreams'

Some movies i like include:
Eternal Sunshine
Waking Life
Evil Dead
Nausica
Up
Harold and Muade

TV:
Lost
