My self-summary
I am terrible at summarizing myself. I'm a queer identified genderqueer/neutrois person. Go ahead and use female pronounce because gender neutral ones are a pain in the ass in English. I'm on the nerdy side. You'll see that if you keep reading. I miss academia and will be back there one day. I'm pagan, not wiccan. I believe in animal welfare, not animal rights. If you want to here me get ranty dykey bitchy about something, that is a good one. Going to the Masai Mara in Kenya/Tanzania during the herd migrations is #1 on my bucket list. I can be awkward & shy, but those are improving as I age. I think that the Friends theme song and "What's My Age Again?" are the theme songs of this stage/age in life.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure out Plan C. Plans A (vet school) and B (molecular biology research) didn't work out, so now I'm searching for a new plan. Currently, I'm temping-to-maybe-hiring at a biology (working mostly on health research) non-profit. I know that working in an office forever will drive me crazy, so I'll need to come up with something else in the next few years.

I'm seriously considering getting a masters in animal behavior and becoming a dog trainer/behaviorist, or getting a masters in ecology and doing something there. Or possibly combining the two areas. And then there is the impractical idea of becoming a queer studies professor. How would I be able to eat??

I'm also trying to plan my next haircut, which I want to look super stereotypically gay for the hell of it.
I’m really good at
Showing dogs, being a nerd, persevering, cooking, napping, checking up on my friends, being lazy and planning adventures at the same time. Having way too many tabs open in my browser and crashing Firefox.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I'm pretty quiet at first. As I said above, I'm becoming less shy as I age, but I'm still a little reserved at first in crowds. I'm much better one on one. Other than that I don't know. That I'm blonde? That I wear glasses? That I dress more masculine than feminine? My dogs? You decide.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: 1984, Vonnegut, Watership Down, all the Redwall books, Brave New World, Clockwork Orange, And Then There Were None, Angels & Demons, Flowers for Algernon, Steven King, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Lord of the Flies, LOTR, A Walk in the Woods, In a Sunburned Country, Patricia Cornwell, Diary (Palahniuk), Trans Liberation, Dune, Good Omens, Discworld, American Gods, City of Dreaming Books, Shades of Grey, not 50 Shades of Grey. Some friends & I read aloud some of the sex scenes and they were TERRIBLY written and not really kinky at all.

Movies: Young Frankenstien, Spinal Tap, Annie Hall, Zoolander, The Birdcage, Fatal Attraction, Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Sleeper, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask, Rocky Horror Picture Show, really bad horror/sci fi movies - especially from the 50s, Dr Strangelove, Godfather Part I, Bonnie & Clyde, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, The Graduate, the original 3 Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Ed Wood, John Carpenter, Touching the Void, Open Water, Scream, Braveheart, Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Caddyshack, Ghost Busters, Animal House, Blues Brothers, Silence of the Lambs, Grease, Stop Making Sense, Rock & Roll High School, Alien, Steven Spielberg, Austin Powers, Mars Attacks, Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, Sin City, Carrie, Salem’s Lot, Shawn of the Dead, The Shining, It, Fight Club, Home Alone, Lion King, Never Ending Story, The Witches, the original Willy Wonka, the Chronicles of Narnia series from the 80s with the animatronic lion, classic Disney, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Beetlejuice, The Omen, Chuck Norris & Bruce Lee movies, The Sandlot, From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, Psycho, Edward Scissorhands, Dances with Wolves, Little Big Man, Nell, Transamerica, The Rose, Adam & Steve, Imagine Me & You, Hocus Pocus, Easy Rider, The Science of Sleep, Waitress, Hot Fuzz, Stardust, Some Like it Hot, The Big Lebowski, Lo, Madman, Enchanted, Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo - can you tell I like movies?

Music: this list will be as long as my movie list, so I'll spare you for now. I will say that my latest discovery courtesy of Pandora is Goldfrapp.

Food: I'm a foodie. Right now I want to be far more adventurous and start trying hard core stuff, perhaps offal. I had beef tongue for the first time the other day. As far as mainstream food goes, I'll try pretty much anything. I hate fennel though.

TV Shows: The X Files, Mystery Science Theater 3000, various 90s Nick shows, Xena, Firefly, Buffy, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Black Books, Bones, Star Trek TOS, TNG, Voyager, the Travel Channel (Bourdain anyone?), Food Network (especially Chopped), Daria, The Walking Dead.

I am so fucking excited for the next season of The Walking Dead.
The six things I could never do without
Dogs, nature, literature, space, laughter, friends, the internet, chapstick, obscenities, and post-it notes. I don't care that that's more than six things. They are all essential.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sadly, job searching/career planning and money, like how the hell do I budget properly, takes up more thinking time than it should. Yay being in your twenties in this economy!

As far as interesting topics:
The universe as an anthropomorphism.

Other random spiritual/religious/philosophical debates that I have with myself and my bestie.

What am I going to eat next?

What am I planning with whom when?

The fact that I do know when to use whom, but sometimes feel like I'm making up my own grammar as I go.

How should I arrange my Netflix queue? This is a big question.

Who let me become an adult???

Sex.

Gender identities. How it's interesting that the trans community and the lesbian community seem to have different ones.

Animals, nature, evolution, life cycles, and science in general.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually at home or at a friend's place relaxing cruising Netflix or the internet. Sometimes going out to a bar or club, or finding something new to do/see, like Joss Whedon themed burlesque at Red Palace. It depends on how the week has gone.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The most embarrassing thing I'm willing to admit to the internet is that I like Selena Gomez's "Love Song".
Shut your mouth.

I have fibromyalgia and a mood disorder. I try very hard to manage my health, but it is extremely difficult sometimes.

Usually I'm attracted to people a few years older than me.

I'm terrible at figuring out if this is a date-date or a friend-date. So if we ever actually meet, read these two articles, laugh, and tell me what the hell YOU think is going on.
