I am funny, bookish, and handy.

My Self-Summary

I like bikes, computers, cameras, games... I use Macs and Linux machines, I couldn't help you with a Windows box if my life depended on it. OK, maybe some. But it would take longer. I was a photojournalism/graphics major, it's really amazing how I fail at using that every day. My gaming collection is kind of large, but I refuse to have anything newer than a PS2 or any Xboxen.

I'm sure there are things I have left out, but that's why you write to me, isn't it?

What I’m doing with my life

Things that are worthwhile, I should hope. Building and rebuilding in some cases.

I’m really good at

Fixing stuff. Especially computers and bikes... or anything else I'm brave enough to take apart, which doesn't tend to exclude much.

I also like games, did I mention that? Not just console/computer, but like Chez Geek, Munchkin, Ogre (SJ Games in general), Carcassonne, Spite & Malice and things of that nature.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know, I've never noticed me? I'll have to ask someone sometime. One thing we tried to learn while photographing our subjects was how to not be noticed. I may have become too good at it.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I don't think I can summarize the books on my shelves... really, I just looked over there. That collection can't be normal. It does seem to be heavy on art, photo, design and reference. I was a jgraphics major, we are reference junkies. Some authors/series in fiction would be Terry Pratchett (Discworld), Neil Gaiman, Robert Heinlein, Joe Haldeman...

There are comics (yes, still) like Hellboy/BPRD, Grendel, Fables/Jack of Fables, BtVS/Angel, one-shots like Legion (lately, anyway)...

TV: Not a lot lately. New Battlestar Galactica, Buffy/Angel/Firefly, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Doctor Who, Torchwood... you'll notice many of these are not currently in production? Also, I like Doctor Who and Torchwood enough to bittorent them (why wait?).

Movies: Spirited Away, Shaun of the Dead, Army of Darkness, Fight Club, Dogma, Lilo and Stitch, A Beautiful Mind, High Fidelity, Hellboy, Princess Bride. A rather random selection.

Music: Is going to require more space than we have here. Is http://www.partyben.com/PartyBen-OohLaLaSummerNights.mp3 or http://www.partyben.com/PartyBen-WalkingWithaGhostinParis(2007Remix).m p3 peculiar enough for you? I don't spend a lot of time listening to mainstream stuff. I think Dean Gray American Edit is perhaps the greatest mashup album of all time.

So a lot of music once someone like Party Ben or DJ BC has had their way with it. Also Minibosses, Radiohead (esp. OK X & Me and This Army), Desperate Bicycles, Jonathan Coulton, Ditty Bops, recently my friend turned me on to Poe (yes, I'm late, but that's what friends are for)... all over, really. We could be at this all day, you know.

Foods: All of the usual suspects for the average U.S. male, but I'm trying new stuff all the time.

The six things I could never do without

My cat Karma, the Internet (aka my external memory), Bicycles, Cameras, Books, non-Windows computers.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I'm going to write next in my "real" blog. Why my city sucks so bad for even attempting a car-lite existence. Where I'd like to go when it's time to leave here. Where I should go when it's time to leave here.

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably at home, unless the weather is decent. Then we ride.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My utter contempt for chat speak.

You should message me if

You just should. Stop worrying about it, just do it.

well?
