My self-summary
total wimp. obsessed with music. also enjoy films, public transport, chuckles with pals, maps, board games, and talking about issues, inventions, and solutions. lactose intolerant, prefer cider to beer and gin to vodka. very much enjoy dancing like a chump to anything that goes boom, but have to take it easy these days.

i was raised as a quaker, although i have never really got on well with the god thing - but their spirit of acceptance, progressive thought, sharing, and peace have stuck with me.

i enjoy soccer, and american football, but don’t get to boisterous about it. other sports a cool too - except rugby. rugby is pony.

i am generally fascinated by independent culture of all kinds. i don’t play computer games.
What I’m doing with my life
for my daytime real world life, i work at a big big company investigating problems that users have with a couple of in-house computer systems. i also write the documentation required to fix those problems. it sounds pretty dry, and it can be - but i work with an interesting bunch, and it’s pretty varied work that makes use of my skills pretty well - so it could be worse.

outside of that i’m heavily involved in the local freak music scene. i help organise shows, and throwing money down the drain putting out vinyl and cassettes of music made by my friends. it’s fun and challenging, and mostly rewarding - but occasionally frustrating. i think we’ve got a good thing going, and it’s a pleasure being part of it. google doubledotdash!? if you give a hoot.

between the real work, and the music stuff, i dont leave a lot of time for my personal life - but i’m making strides to improve this - and this profile is a small part of that. i am also making efforts to be more organised and responsible - and to take control of my life instead of letting it pass me by.

i like having fun too. honest.
I’m really good at
making mixtapes. remaining coherent during periods of extreme drunkenness. staying up late. a load of boring inconsequential stuff. navigation. heavy petting.

i am bad at peeling vegetables, remembering song titles, and romantic relationship initiation.
The first things people usually notice about me
i’m pretty massive. messy hair. messy beard. quiet. apologetic. slow moving.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
i don’t read many books. if i do then they tend to be about music (our band could be your life), other non-fiction (the undercover economist), or have pictures (ghost world). and catcher in the rye.

i love movies. i prefer the cinema, but good things rarely make it to the local megaplex. not so bad now that i got a decent tv. general favourites include dazed and confused, the big lebowski, say anything, submarine, knocked up, high fidelity, repo man, pulp fiction, and the royal tenenbaums. not too into horror, fantasy, war, or anime films. happy to make exceptions and change my mind.

i enjoy tv. i like watching people cook, and talk about old things. i like laughing. seinfeld is great. father ted is great. channel 4 news. university challenge. soccer saturday. freaks and geeks. northern exposure.

music is a big part of my life. it’s important to me that i can share it with my loved ones. i like all kinds of different stuff, although i am pretty out of touch with what is super popular in the real world. i’ll name a few things that i have dug recently. supernormal festival. supersonic festival. ATP curated by shellac. josephine foster, carlton melton, lungfish, why?, papa m, goat, good throb, serengeti, stars of the lid. captain beefheart. northern soul. punk rock. rap bangers. minimal techno. fist pumpers. modern classical. repetition, lots of repetition.

i like food. i used to be really fussy, and only eat pretty dull dry things. life has changed and like most things, although i struggle with seafood and boiled vegetables. not massively into soup. i love meat, but occasionally go veggie for stretches. all you can eat chinese is a rare treat.
The six things I could never do without
1 - internet. 2 - internet connected device. 3 - human interaction. 4 - time away from human interaction. 5 - spreadsheets. 6 - music playing device.

dull.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the minutiae of everyday life. i like to mull things over, although i am capable of acting on impulse if required.

i try not to get too weighed down in all the bullshit that goes on this world. there is too much.
On a typical Friday night I am
either a gig. or a discotheque. or in a cheapskates pub. or at home. free and easy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i have been receiving hypnotherapy for on and off over a year. it has been fascinating.
