I'm someone who's passionate about social justice; I teach 4th grade on the west side of Chicago. I love being active outside; i play soccer, run, and work out as much as I can. I also am very intellectually curious. I'm in a book club, I love learning from others, and as much as I love being a teacher, I can't wait to be a student again in a PhD program.

So I get a deposit of 25 or so kids every August, and it's my job to take this amalgam of youth and somehow turn them into enlightened, inquisitive thinkers by the end of the year. Results may vary but I love it.

I'm also conducting action research around the gender gap in academic achievement. (why females tend to be much more engaged and successful in school than males)

I'm not all work and no play though. My friends are super important to me, as are my hobbies. I love to play soccer, ride my bike, drink good beer (Belgian please!), read good books, and go to the movies.
