My self-summary
Apparently, I'm now a serious young urban professional. That all happened rather suddenly. What happened to those halcyon university days of late nights with friends, club politics, last-minute exam prep, debates about philosophy going late into the night?

...well, apart from the exam prep, they're mainly still core parts of my life. The only real difference is I go to bed at a reasonable hour on a weeknight, and I cook myself real dinners instead of cheese toasties and takeaway. It's a good life, mostly.

(okay, the occasional cheese toastie still slips in there. no-one's perfect.)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm kicking off my new career in the public service, hoping to apply myself to the serious challenges facing Australia.

Continuously trying to learn to dance, play the piano, and write clever prose. Probably failing.
I’m really good at
Cooking without a plan. Obsessing over the radar page at the Bureau of Meteorology website. Singing in the shower. Dancing in the rain. Having complex opinions about simple things. Looking after small children. Murdering the piano.

The six things I could never do without
Large fuzzy towel, box of Weetbix, trusty sonic screwdriver, the newspaper, my lucky mug, and a decent set of cookware.

Politics, philosophy, policies, privilege, social justice, economics, and the future of our tiny blue dot.
On a typical Friday night I am
I certainly hope
I'm not composing haiku
That would be quite strange

Ahem. I'm much more likely to be sharing a meal and a few drinks with friends - perhaps something I've cooked myself, perhaps at a local pub or restaurant. That, or heading down to enjoy the surf and the sand for the weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have seriously watched way too much Gruen Transfer and Mad Men. While I was writing this profile, I caught terms like "brand identity", "marketable qualities", and "image management" flowing through my train of thought. I've never so much as worked a day of my life in marketing.

Maybe it's not so bad. Here's a clever and funny TED talk on the subject of how advertising can be used to make life better.
