I am short, cute, and proud of it.

My Self-Summary

I have East Coast values and West Coast hair (although I'm a natural blonde! Honest!)

I suppose this is the part where I say I'm into art and theatre and travel and all that highbrow stuff... which I am... but we don't have to talk about it. Really.

At this point, I'm really intersted in finding a partner in crime for a recession romance-- you know, Section W at the Hollywood Bowl, nights in with Netflix, skating at the beach, doing an informal survey of the best happy hours on the Westside...

What I’m doing with my life

I'm having more fun now than pretty much any time previously, which is awesome. I have a steady office job during the day that's totally chill, and will hopefully lead to bigger and better things at some point. No rush. I love living on the Westside, close to work and just a few miles from the beach. I tend to have loads of free time so I love going out to have fun. I also sing with two groups.
The most fun thing I've done so far this year was volunteer at KCRW-- great people and great music! I also got to work at the Grilled Cheese Invitational in the spring. I mention those because I love doing random things, especially when there's music and/or free food involved.
I love to travel; in the past 6 years I've been to Europe and all over the US. In fact, I've been to 28 states so far... still plenty of time to hit them all. I had to cancel my trip to New Orleans (still haven't been there, but there IS a recession on!) but I'll be heading East for family events twice in the Fall, and next year I'll be spending 2 weeks in Italy.

I’m really good at

Making others laugh at inappropriate times. Especially at work. I'm definitely the "Jim" in my office. If I were male. And fictional. And living in Pennsylvania.

The first things people usually notice about me

I look like I'm playing hooky from high school...I guess I'm finally old enough to know that that's a compliment. ;)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I seem to have a lot of time on my hands at work lately, so I've been catching up on my random reading. I like new fiction and mysteries (my favorite is The Great Gatsby) but I'm down for nonfiction too. Just read "Blue Highways," which is a chronicle of an amazing roadtrip, the kind I can't wait to take. I just finished this book called "The Thing About Life is That One Day You'll Be Dead," which is pretty much the opposite of my outlook. Can't recommend that one.

Movies: O Brother Where Art Thou?, Amelie, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited... I have no specific favorite genre. Anything well-written and escapist works for me. I have to admit, I saw Benjamin Button twice. (Hey, I *am* a girl; nothing wrong with a little romance now and then.)

Music: alt-country/Americana, jazz/blues, world/electronica (think KCRW). Really into the new Neko Case (and all her previous records) and Handsome Family (finally got to see them live at McCabe's, which was amazing).

TV: I actually do not have a TV, but I am a huge "True Blood" fan. Actually, any HBO drama is quality, in my book.

Food: I'm the world's least creative vegetarian and a Trader Joe's fanatic. Give me some pad Thai or a veggie burger and that'll do me. Also, marshmallow Peeps, for the aesthetics.

The six things I could never do without

Strong coffee, my iPod, my family, lots of sunshine, at least a little sleep, and...mini carrots ('cause I live on them)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The present. Never the past. Not too much about the distant future. I'm very much in the now.

On a typical Friday night I am

curled up with a cold one (or three) if the week wiped me out...or out at a show with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a vegetarian. Just fyi.

You should message me if

you're looking for someone genuine. For better or worse, I'm as sincere as they come.
