My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a gamer, a student of philosophy, an anime enthusiast, and an identical twin. I prize intellect very highly, both in others and in myself. I'm generally pretty quiet and introverted, but I can talk your ear off if you let me. When I decide to interact with people, I can be very talkative, but I just need an impetus to start getting to know someone.

It takes me a while to get comfortable with new people, but when I get to know you, you won't find a more dependable friend or willing listener.

I have a hard time meeting people because of my busy school schedule, so I thought I'd try online dating and see how it works out.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Pursuing a philosophy degree. I've just been accepted into a Master's program, and I'll be looking into PhD programs relatively soon. I'd like to teach at a 4-year university at some point.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Video games. Translating random stuff into Japanese. Philosophy (hopefully). Reading comprehension and recall. Verbal reasoning. Creating an awkward silence on command. Making people laugh, then making them uncomfortable about laughing. It's a gift.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm usually very quiet in social situations and I imagine people don't notice me much (outside of the classroom, that is). But, if you get me in my element, like discussing philosophy, academia, anime, or gaming, then you'll definitely notice my extensive knowledge of all things geeky.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite literary works are A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, The Fall by Albert Camus, The Stranger (also by Camus), Candide by Voltaire, In Dubious Battle by John Steinbeck, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I was also quite fond of the Sandman series of graphic novels, as well as Watchmen. I liked the Watchmen comic better, as I usually like books better than their movie counterpart.

My favorite movies would include Pulp Fiction, A Clockwork Orange, Kill Bill, Full Metal Jacket, Amelie, Inception, Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Spirited Away, Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea, Howl's Moving Castle, There Will Be Blood, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Lost in Translation, among many others.

For my musical interests, I'm partial to Beck, The Flaming Lips, The Pillows, My Bloody Valentine, The Velvet Underground, and The Wild Swans, among others.

Food isn't a really big priority of mine, but I am partial to Chinese food, and some Japanese food.

I should really include anime as a category, seeing as I watch so much of it. My absolute favorite would be Monster, by Naoki Urusawa. I've never seen a better characterized or plotted series. Second favorite would have to be Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's a bit on the older side, and the animation can be rough due to its age, but the overall plot, characters, themes, you name it, all are top notch. I'd say Monster and LOGH are about tied in my estimation.

Other favorites include Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Master Keaton, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Hajime no Ippo, Berserk (mostly the manga), Code Geass, Death Note, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, almost any of the Gundam series (with a few exceptions), Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai Champloo.

Some TV shows I like that aren't anime are The Wire, Archer, Batman the Animated Series and Batman Beyond, Firefly, Downton Abbey, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frasier, Sherlock, Animaniacs, Rick and Morty, Over the Garden Wall, Gravity Falls, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Arrested Development, Futurama, The Simpsons, early Family Guy seasons and later Amercan Dad seasons, Breaking Bad, Bob's Burgers, Venture Bros, Samurai Jack, Adventure Time, and Powerpuff Girls. I've seen the first season of Game of Thrones, and I'd really like to rewatch it and then binge the next seasons as fast as possible.

Of course, there's always so much more to see that won't fit here, so feel free to message me if you think we have similar taste and can recommend something not on here.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, anime, video games, movies, the Internet, electricity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to translate a particularly funny phrase into Japanese, or at least approximate it. I find it helps me keep in practice, and it's amusing.
Also philosophy, I spend a great deal of time thinking about that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching anime. Or playing video games. Or surfing the Web. These are typical nights any day of the week, really. As long as I'm not swamped with classes or working, I'm usually entertaining myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm really, really shy. Painfully so. I've been working on it.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have a thing for nerds,
if you like anime,
if you like literature,
if you like having an actual conversation with someone,
or if you find me irresistably charming for no apparent reason.
