My self-summary
I am a geek. I love motorcycles and helicopters but can only legally fly one. I enjoy cooking but I treat recipes as suggestions. I like fixing stuff, which is pretty handy given how I ride. I used to teach rollerblading and still carve up the sidewalk. I like walking at night in the summer. I love learning new, useful things. I like Ultimate Frisbee even though I'm terrible. I'm a "published author" (ask me why that's in pseudo-air quotes) and continue to write short stories and the odd ballad.
What I’m doing with my life
Learning Chinese (Ni hao ma, zhai xi zhen!) Learning Dutch (de man en de vrouwen eeten un broodje!). Observing and assimilating. Coaxing simple words in an IDE into a beautiful, well-formed design. Trying to learn how life works without borking it too badly :)
I’m really good at
Cutting to the root of the problem. Messing with reality computing. Beating the snot out of a heavy bag. Recognizing opportunities. You should have seen how slick and cool I was sneaking money into someone's pocket recently. They wouldn't let me pay the bar tab, but my sleight-of-hand won out :)
The first things people usually notice about me
I am TALL. Six-foot three plus the hat. It's a fantastic trick for getting things off the top shelf. My sister still calls me her "little" brother although the top of her head only reaches my shoulder.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Calvin and Hobbes was the absolute of awesome.

Ender's Game, the entire works of Terry Pratchett regardless of how good, and various one-hit wonders top my list of pleasurable reads. Lee Child and Robert B. Parker make it into the same category as master raconteurs.

Big Bang Theory is a ton of fun and Eureka!, Fringe, and Warehouse 13 make things interesting. How I Met Your Mother is usually a hilariously satirical. Doctor Who, of course, although I'm not up-to-date on the most recent incarnation. Once Upon a Time has sucked me in, especially now that it's on Netflix. Go Netflix! New Girl has captured my heart as well.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My purpose in life. What is it, how will I recognize it, how to take advantage of it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My fedora survived The Great Hot Tub Incident. There are scars, but by golly it made it.
