My self-summary
**Update July 2014**
Back online after a break from Ok Cupid. I think I need to update this profile. Maybe make it a bit more concise and definitely shorter....

Hello there! Who am I? Well... If nothing else I am an honest person, even if I am not always honest with myself. I consider myself an outgoing introvert if there can be such a thing. I tend to take life as it comes and am generally a positive person with a healthy dose of cynicism mixed in.

I am a bit of a geek. I'm an avid reader and I collect comic books . I also read/watch sci-fi, adventure, and fantasy. Like that's not geeky enough I also read scientific journals, blogs, scientific books and love discussing science with friends, particularly space and NASA. I'm a programmer/designer, so I read a lot of tech manuals and spend a great deal of time staring at monitors with a slight bewildered look. All of which fills up most of my extra reading time. Also I am a Google and Android fan. I sometimes participate in Ingress. I like to be upfront with my geeky/nerdy tendencies because they are part of who I am.

I don't like politics or arguing about them. I listen to NPR when I'm driving. I think I am an Atheist but I follow Buddhism and am fascinated by the paranormal. I know that is a strange mix. I work out during the week and have a love/hate relationship with my gym.

I have a young heart but an old soul.

I like outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing, scuba diving and being where I've never been before. Being in Florida I find it is somewhat difficult to participate in many out door activities for very long in parts of the spring, any of the summer and most of fall because of the sub-tropical oppressive heat. However, I try never to let that stop me.

I love traveling. I truly love exploring and discovering the world.

I also enjoy many in-door activities like a quiet night watching Netflix, having unique and interesting conversations over coffee or wine. I love theater, orchestras, and the occasional opera. I feel I am a positive person and am almost always optimistic no matter the circumstance. A (silver lining) kind of guy if you will.

I listen to all kinds of music depending on my mood or activity. You name it I probably stream it or have a play list set up for it. The same goes for movies. I can enjoy a romantic drama as well as the latest sci-fi action.

Who I think I am looking for is an awesome woman who possesses a clever personality, who’s an independent thinker and is armed with a quick and silly sense of humor. Someone who is active in life and the world. Who has a good and kind soul. A radiant woman who is artistic and creative and is unique and quirky in her own way.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working on my career and am making plans for a new business. I am always trying to learn more by taking classes or reading on my own. I obtained my scuba certification last year and love it. I also love rock climbing but is hard to do outside of the climbing gym in Florida. I often think about going on new adventures. I would like to do more cosplay and go to more sci-fi/fantasy conventions. I want to do more fun activities like skydiving and mountain climbing. I would love to go on a road trips because the trip getting there is sometimes better than the destination. Also making plans to go to Burning Man. Along with plans to my passport as much as possible these are just a few of the things I would like to do soon. I believe life is an adventure and one I intend on experiencing.
I’m really good at
Knowing useless knowledge and pointless trivia. Also, as it turns out I am really good at procrastinating at filling out about me questioners.
The first things people usually notice about me
Is that I'm human. Part of the Homo Sapiens family of modern primates. Other than that I have been told I'm fairly tall and my eyes are very animated.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Big Bang Theory, The Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who and Cosmos are among a few I currently download. I do not watch live tv but when I do I like most shows on the Travel Channel, the Science Channel, and Nat Geo. I watch some shows or movies over again like old friends. Some of these are Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape Monty Python, Star Wars, Star Trek Buffy/Angel, Charmed, Dead Like Me and MST3K.

I would consider myself to be an avid reader. I never leave home without a book. Even though I am a "tech guy" I perfer the real thing to a tablet.
I range in categorys depending on my mood. I love the classics to post modern. Not ashamed to admit Jane Eyre as one of my favorites even if a bit macabre. I am a huge fan of Chuck Palahniuk and his twists on the mind. I wouldn't be much of a geek if I didn't mention how awesome the Harry Potter and Dune novels are. I enjoyed the Hunger Games saga as well as Percy Jackson books. Too bad the movies have not lived up to the books. Do they ever? Recently finished reading Insurgent part of the Divergent trilogy.
For non-fiction I absolutely love anything by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He is hands down my biggest living hero. I was inspired by the works by Carl Sagan and enjoy rereading the theories of Stephen Hawking.

Surprisingly I enjoy almost all - almost. As mentioned I enjoy historical romantic comedy dramas as well as the latest epic sci-fi action adventure horror and anything in between. There is a special place in my heart for many 80's movies like Goonies, Flight of the navigator, Explorers and so many more. The vintage silver screen has so many great performances from Laurence Olivier and Grace Kelly to Charlie Chaplin and Jean Arthur. I can find myself catching up on all the classics. I also like foreign films and independent movies.

Yes, I am straight and yes, I enjoy stage theater. I am a lifelong member of the International Thespian Society and was considered a drama geek in high school. I enjoy Broadways, Off Broadways, musicals, operas, small venue theater and improv. I love attending the Shakespeare Festival and Fringe Festival as well as other events when I can.
The six things I could never do without
I sometimes pride myself on my gypsy-like background and the ability to not put a high value on physical possessions. In that, I think what is more amazing is all the things I can go without and still be happy. Nevertheless, there are a few things physical and abstract that I would be hard pressed to do without.

My passport is a treasure for me because it allows me the possibility to better my understanding of the world in which I live.

The internet is an important part of my life and even though it's changed dramatically in my life time (not always for the good) it would be difficult for me to imagine a life with out it.

Naivety to the universe and a sense of humor about it all. I am constantly furthering my knowledge of the universe through all forms of media. No matter how much knowledge I gain (or how much I realize I don't know) I never want to lose my naivety of it all. With that come a sense of humor of the comedy that is life.

Wonder-lust, I love that I have always been drawn to explore and experience new things. I never want to lose that part of me. Even when I'm settled down and rooted I will want to answer the call of exploration, adventure, and travel. I just need to find my travel partner.

Work and a sense of purpose. These two I feel are close enough to be counted as one. I dread the thought of not having my job. It is essential that I work and continue building my career. Even if I am not always where I am now it will remain the foundation of my future. A sense of purpose is a feeling I found I am very fond of and something I look for in all aspects of my life.

A best friend and partner in life. This brings me to why I am here on this site. It's not that I can not live with out a partner but life is just so much better when you share it with someone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Time travel. Black holes. The Universe. Books and stories I want to read or write. Art I want to draw, paint, or design. Things and places I have never done or seen.
On a typical Friday night I am
doing the same thing we do everynight Pinky...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I always wanted to be Indiana Jones.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–38
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
If you like really long profiles with no clever conclusions. If you would like to meet for coffee, drinks, or if you just want to talk and find out more about me. If you want to chat online and make a new long distance friend. I think it is a safe assumption that any first meeting with me will be interestingly awkward.
