My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love meeting new people and making new friends.

I love to listen to NPR, play outside, cook, play board games, card games, going dancing, dabble in some song writing, fiction, and technical writing. I love to kayak and I would also like to do more camping once it gets warm again as I haven't been camping in years. I like to go dancing (and would love to explore more swing dancing if you're up for it), I like to spend time at Belle Isle and exploring Detroit.

I recently bought my first house and really love it.

I'm here looking to make friends - especially vegans or vegetarian minded folks! If something more comes out of it, I'm open to that too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Over the last two years I've been in four or five different countries only one of which is in North America (not counting the USA) for work.

You can often find me out in the Ann Arbor area on the Huron River in my kayak when it's warm enough and also out on Belle Isle biking or hanging out on the beach. Being active is important to me. I recently bought a house.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I make for a pretty good vegan. I've been doing so for just about ten years now. I love to cook and cook for/with people. I'm also pretty wicked at solving puzzles. I have a passion for taking photographs - I'm alright at that too. I am a performer and speaker and travel frequently doing such. I am often hired to teach at various conventions around the world as well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love movies...LOVE them. I love going out to the theater, I love renting and staying in. I love sharing this experience with others. I love midnight re-runs. I love midnight first runs. I'm not afraid to get emotional during a good movie..and sometimes can't help but get emotional during those terrible ones too : ). I've recently gone on a kick to revisit some of my favorite movies from the 90's (Addams Family, Beatlejuice, Ed Wood, Nightmare before Christmas... why aren't they making movies like these anymore?).

Directors: Tom Tykwer, Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Jim Jarmusch, Sofia Coppola, Henson, Stanley Kubrick, Hal Ashby (Harold & Maude is my all time favorite movie) Woody Allen.

TV: While I don't own a television...the best way to watch is on DVD/internet/netflix! Dr. Who, Eureka, X-Files, Star Trek Twin Peeks, Heroes, Dr. Who, Stargate SG-1. (Yes I'm aware that Dr. Who is mentioned three times).

Authors: Neil Gaiman, David Sedaris, Jerri Spinelli, Roald Dahl, Orson Scott Card, Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, Maggie Estep

Music: Counting Crows (2006 and earlier - UPDATE: actually their new two albums are pretty great!), Tom Waits, Tim Minchin, Radiohead Ani Difranco, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Covenant, Wolfshiem, David Francey, David Bowie, Pixies, Ditty Bops, Carolina Chocolate Drops etc. etc. I'm an avid listener of the Moth story slam, This American life, and Prairie Home Companion, radio lab and other NPR favorites. ...It's an odd mix.

Food: I love vegan food - I rarely deviate from things that are vegan and never deviate into meat. I get a lot of questions from folks who ask how I could give up cheese and milk and the like. It's pretty easy. I don't tend to push my vegan opinions on other people. I am open to talking about it though. I wont be offended if you eat meat, but I have realized that I do prefer that whoever I end up with in a serious dating capacity to be Vegetarian - with serious vegan leanings. I've lived in a Vegan house for close to nine years now and really don't want to give that up.

I love Ethiopian cuisine, Mediterranean, Mexican, and more. All you have to do is mention Thai food and I'm craving it. Excuse me, I have to step out and grab some…damn.
