I'm a good listener who also has ready wit and an offbeat sense of humor.
Years ago, I drove across bridges, bays and interstates to see women as far away from me as St. Pete, Daytona Beach and Sarasota. Now, I'd like to find someone who is in the same area code - 813.
When I was a small town radio dj, a lifetime ago, I once held an on air contest where I announced "the last caller" would be the winner. When someone called and asked if he or she was the last caller, I said "I don't know, you'll have to call back."
My favorite things to do (though usually not all at the same time) include digital photography, movies, dining out, trivia, reading, walking, 'net surfing, some TV, and listening to music (live or from my Spotify playlists.)
Also follow the Bucs, Lightning and Rays. When I grew up in central PA, I grew up beside Penn State's main campus in University Park. So, I had a great chance to watch and appreciate a great variety of sports ranging from basketball to gymnastics to volleyball to football.
Family is important to me. For over nine years, I've shared a home with my younger sister and two nephews. Seeing teenagers grow up is, to say the least, entertaining. They are good kids, and sometimes I see a bit of me in the way they act. I think that's cool. Echo and Kuro, our cats, are like most cats - really in charge of everything except paying bills.
Photography near water is a big thing for me, and I enjoy it whether it's along the beach, by a pier, on a riverbank or by a lake. Much of this, I am sure, comes from my landlocked youth in Central Pennsylvania. The largest body of water in my hometown was our basement, when it flooded. (Yes, watching the fireplace logs floating by the Washer/Dryer was great entertainment.)
Thus, I like to explore the Tampa Bay area. Whether it's through planned adventure or wrong turns, I truly enjoy the wide variety of possibilities our region offers. Sometimes, I can even find Howard Park without a map.
Been working in an academic setting for the last 4 years in a Registar's Office. Blessed to have good colleagues and a supportive boss.
Of course, since I was a disc jockey, I am passionate about music. When I started in radio in the late 70s, I had the chance to take requests and play songs not even in our format, if they sounded ok. Especially on the many overnight shifts I worked; I was barely awake and pretty certain most of my audience wasn't!
In that time, I got to learn a lot about what we now call "Classic Rock." 60s and 70s are my favorites, but there is some good stuff from the 80s as well. Favorite bands do include The Beatles, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Marshall Crenshaw, Southside Johnny, Springsteen, Matthew Sweet, 10,000 Maniacs, Poco, Buffalo Springfield, Steely Dan, Psychedelic Furs, Todd Rundgren, Simon and Garfunkel, Elvis Costello, the Beach Boys and the Ramones.
Conversation matters. I'd think being able to find things to talk about is quite important when two people meet. And I think that such is better at a Starbucks or during dinner than someplace so noisy that it's easy to forget our own names.
I'm a one woman man who hopes to find someone to share the challenges and joys of life.
We each walk our own path. If you feel like you'd like to cross mine, please write!
