Busy, busy, busy, is what we Bokononists whisper whenever we think of how complicated and unpredictable the machinery of life really is.

Learning how to do useful things on my own like changing the oil in my car and cooking Thai food the right way.

I recently quit my job at a study abroad organization to spend all my time acting like a silly child instead. It was no longer challenging me mentally or creatively. Now I'm focusing on planning future adventures, travels, career paths, self reflection/discovery, mindfulness, and in the meantime having all the Austin funs with all the Austin friends.

The God of Small Things, Kite Runner, The Things They Carried, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Catcher in the Rye, Super Sad True Love Story. Pedro Páramo. Kurt Vonnegut is my man. Anything nostalgic or dystopian. Non-fiction too. And I'm a sucker for giant travel guides.

I really love a lot of movies, but one film that totally blew my mind was Almodovar's The Skin I Live In. I find myself thinking about it pretty often. The Science of Sleep and Lars and the Real Girl are delightful as well.

Twin Peaks. Will there ever be another TV show as nuanced and surreal? Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, Parks and Rec, Madmen.

I'm pretty into contemporary music and go to lots of shows and whatnot. Austin is a gem of a city. Really digging Grimes and Alt-J lately.

And cheese.

I could live without most things! So how about six things I favor more than most:

Coffee shops
Colors and geometric shapes
Road trips
Sunrise (since I rarely see it)
Wordplay and double meanings
Foreign cultures

How much time I spend thinking about things.

Unwinding from the week by indulging in either a night out with friends or a coma nap. Or at the library.

You can laugh at yourself and lightheartedly discuss meaningful things. Or if you wanna tell me a joke.
