I'd wondered whether or not the long, rocky traverse on my all-mountain skis would be worth it. As I looked over the bowl, the narrow entrance framed with snow-covered pines, the butterflies in my stomach let me know I'd definitely made the right choice. Why come all that way just to back off now? With a wave back to my snowboarding friend, I took the plunge--tips first--puffs of white snow blowing into my face and a loud whoop (or several more) that fell with me into that open bowl.

I love to ski. Getting out there on the mountain, in that cold, blustery air, and taking the plunge. That's life, too. Take a risk, have some fun, get snowy. If you don't leap into the unknown, how will you ever find out what's fun and who you are?

Let's see... dodging trees, hammering out a strong place in the tech sector, and waking up in a sleeping bag at 11,000 feet to see more stars than I ever thought possible (trust me, it's even better than it sounds!).

I like to listen, to talk, and to offer lots of unsolicited, useless facts! I can brag about my turns on the mountain, too, can't I?

Powder/all mountain skis and a pair of speedy groomers for making railroad tracks on the snow!

My backpack for trundling way too much weight up into the high sierra.

A cast iron skillet for making all kinds of delicious things to eat (my favorite: salt and pepper a steak, throw it in the pan with some garlic, cook for 8 minutes, and bam! Instant delicious!)

More than that? I'll have to think about it!

Whatever random fact happens to pop into my mind! Seriously, things just tend to jump in there--and it's stuff that doesn't always make a lot of sense! But, then again... doesn't that make conversation more interesting?

I'm either at home enjoying a good movie, cooking a tasty dinner, or enjoying a meal with friends in downtown Santa Barbara! If I'm lucky, it won't be any of these things and I'll be in my car on the way to Mammoth Mountain for some fresh tracks!
