I'm an in-town guy who is adventurous, very active, and
thoughtful----- meaning both caring,empathetic and a thinker--a
little intellectual...only a little..........) I've traveled a fair
bit, both domestically and international. There is no vacation
which is as invigorating as exploring a new culture. I love hanging
out on the beach or the mountains, but there is something about
returning from a trip where I've had only a loose itinerary, had to
find hostels or rooms along the way and met fascinating memorable
people which does something uplifting for my soul and spirit.
I've done lots of athletics over the years, including years of
martial arts --- karate and aikido. These days I'm kind of
power-ashtanga yoga crazy......:) I never imagined it would be so
tough and demanding, but it is amazing how it works the muscles,
the mind, and helps the aching joints, too. I also like to be
outdoors. I love to bicycle and I spend a fair bit of time at
Freedom Park with my dog, who is a bit of a neighborhood celebrity
and enemy number 1 to the squirrels at the park.
I am thoughtful, active, and youthful.
What I’m doing with my life
I do sales and marketing work related to DVD distribution. I've
worked for three of the major studios and a major record label.
Besides the corporate world, I've also worked in entrepreneurial
environments, too. The fun part has been the opportunity to travel
to some fun places --- including going to the Sundance and
Telluride Film festivals. The not so fun part has been the expected
pressures of sales goals, fighting.... oh, I mean "negotiating"
with customers, and early mornings and late nights on the phone and
computer doing projections and reports. While it really is less
glamorous than it sounds, I feel lucky to have been able to do work
where I have a passion.
I’m really good at
Cooking......:) Now, the question says good, not great......:) I
did take a few classes a couple years ago and my friends say I have
some natural talent. OK, they were being nice, but they keep coming
back on Sunday night for HBO and dinner.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book is "The Adventures of Augie March" by Saul Bellow.
I have an English Lit degree, and like lots of classics, but also
contemporary fiction, too. I also read a fair bit of non-fiction.
Robert Kaplan, the journalist, traveler is great.
As to movies, I have too many favorites. A few are: The Godfather I
and II, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, The French director,
Francois Truffaut, and for some crazy reason, Stripes, with Bill
As to music, pretty much anything except country. Ever since I saw
the movie, "The Buena Vista Social Club", I've been into Afro-Cuban
and Brazilian music.
Favorite food: sushi, Thai, Indian and Mediterranean ---- Italian
