My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a Conservative Evangelical Reformed Christian. One way or the other, that's going to be the most important sentence for you in this profile ;)

By Conservative I mean that I desire to conserve things which ought to be conserved. A particular Conservative vice is the desire to conserve things which ought not to be conserved. Wisdom and analysis is required to determine the difference.

I am a thinker; I spend most of my mental and conversational energy engaging with ideas rather than emotions. When I am emotionally engaged in something it's usually white hot, but it's rare. Most of the time I exist in state of mild amusement :)

I was rock climbing regularly for a couple years, and really enjoyed it, but it wasn't systematic enough for me to see the sort of progression in my fitness that I desire, so I started powerlifting a month ago (full body strength exercises). It's more fun than I expected, doesn't take as much time, and has given me more obvious progress. It may say "a little extra" on the side there, but I intend to change that to "athletic" within the next 6 months. (Edited 9/16/13)

My church is a recent plant in the heart of the city. I'm a vocalist on our worship team, which is weird because if you'd asked me two years ago if I ever thought I'd even go to a church with a worship band I would have probably laughed at you. Fortunately, we are making a concerted effort to make sure we are worship leaders, not worship performers. Congregational participation in worship is important to me.

I love the outdoors, but never seem to go camping or hiking unless someone else suggests it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Improving. Complacency is the enemy. If you get to a point in your life where you say to yourself "I am who I am supposed to be", you're wrong.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I love to sing. I have a strong singing voice, some people get surprised by how loud I am.

I am gifted technologically, give me a gadget or piece of software and I'll have it figured out pretty quick.

For an introverted geek, I'm pretty good with people. This was not always the case. I realized a few years back that, although I enjoy being a geek, I disliked fitting a lot of the stereotypes associated with it. I can still enjoy Doctor Who and board games without being out of shape, socially awkward and poorly dressed.

Personal development has become very important to me. If you accept that all people have a sinful nature, then it's not a huge leap to the fact that all people need to improve. I cannot do this without God's grace, but it would be irresponsible of me to be complacent in my state.

If it's not the beard I'll be quite shocked.

I don't really take much seriously, people are too serious about nearly everything.

"A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?" Ecclesiastes 2:24-25
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read for entertainment or to feed my current interests. Science-fiction and fantasy entertain me more than anything else; I love the creative exploration of ideas without boundaries.

I enjoy narrative television: shows which tell a story over time. My all-time favorite show is Doctor Who. The BBC's new take on Sherlock is pretty fantastic.

I regularly participate in Sacred Harp singing (also known as Shape Note singing). It's an American folk tradition of hymn singing especially popular in the south. If you've never heard of it I suggest you search for some videos of it on youtube, it's pretty amazing.

{Hipster glasses} My musical tastes are extremely unusual, you've probably never heard of anything I listen to. {/Hipster glasses}

Good food is wonderful, especially steak and pasta. I've learned to cook a few things really well (mostly in the above categories)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What it means to be a man in a culture that often doesn't like traditional masculinity.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying develop the ability to flex my beard. I suppose I also do stuff like hang out with friends, see movies, play games, decorate cakes, or spend the evening reading. (one of those is fake, I'll leave it to you to guess which one)

I love board games, and am an assistant organizer of the St. Louis Boardgame Meetup group. Board games are a wonderful way for people with analytical minds to socialize, particularly when parties or loud group venues overstimulate or bore us.

I love a good small group or 1 on 1 conversation, so venues where it's too loud to converse are my least favorite evenings out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

It saddens me how many Christian girls answer "only after 6 or more dates" to that particular question.

...you are a Believer. More important to me than anything else is that the woman I marry will love the Lord more than me.

...you are smart. I want someone I can make as much of an intellectual connection as emotional one.

...you can converse. I need conversation. It sometimes surprises people that I'm an introvert because I'm loud and talk a lot. I want to talk about interesting things with interesting people.

A love of board/card games like Settlers of Catan and Apples to Apples is a plus.
