My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I enjoy each decade of my life more than the last. I plan on keeping that going. I have lived an unconventional life in some respects, but I am not afraid of conventionality, I just don't see it as inherently valuable.

I enjoy good natured sarcasm and I seem to get along with most people. I dislike elitism.

I have a dog named Akira and a cat named Jack. To save time I refer to them by their celebrity-couple name, Jackira.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have been a tattooist for the last 20 years and still do that on a part time basis. Right now I am working on a PhD in political science and will be working on it for another year at least. Nevertheless, I make time for friends and family.

Whenever I get the time I like to get out to/in the ocean. I like to sail and am learning to surf (still not good at it and may never be, but I have fun).

I'm mostly just working at the tattoo shop and writing my dissertation. I'll also be teaching one class as an adjunct this fall in political theory. I'm thinking about taking a trip in the next year to Argentina if I can swing the time and money to make it worthwhile.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I give good back rubs, I write well, I make tamales, and I can drone on and on about esoteric crap that no sensible person would ever be bothered with. Also, I'm a very solid tattooist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that who I am does not meet their expectations based on how I look.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Brothers Karamazov is my all time favorite, The Innocents Abroad (Twain), and Around the World Alone (Slocum) were also great reads. Right now I read so much for school that I have little time for leisure reading.

Movies: I like all kinds of movies--not too picky there--I like both serious films and complete schlock.

Shows (TV, I assume): 30 Rock, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Trailer Park Boys, and other things found on Netflix. I don't have an actual TV hooked up these days.

Music: Again all over the map. I do have a near-zero-tolerance policy for Andrew Lloyd Weber and most musical theater. I also cannot abide psuedo-patriotic maudlin new country. Other than that I will listen to classical, some jazz, punk rock, pop, hardcore, Latin music, "alt" country, etc.

Food: For meat I normally only eat fish and poultry and have been circling the conversion to vegetarianism. When I'm just buying food for myself it's simple and pretty much vegan--I like eating at home theses days.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Hyperbole aside, here's a list of things I would strongly prefer not to live without:
good books,
my dog,
the ocean,
exercise (preferably outdoor),
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
random crap...

Theories of political development, boats, surfing, starting an international shipping company that uses green technologies, houses, travel, escaping civilization, my friends, my family, dating, sex...not necessarily in that order.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either hanging out with friends or at home doing schoolwork.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cried watching Orange County and I'm still not really sure why--it could have been the teenage angst of Collin Hanks, it might have been Jack Black in his underwear, or maybe it was John Lithgow (sp?) as the distant father, who knows really?
