My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
TL;DR: I'm more for figuring out whether there's something there in real life than going back and forth for several weeks. Also, i don't know about you, but I'm not great at representing myself on these profiles. How about we meet up for a low-key first encounter to see whether the chemistry's there, eh?

I think if I had to pick one defining trait for myself, I'd say it was my sense of humor. Finding a partner that I can laugh with is key to me. I think being able to laugh in life is so key. I also happen to think that humor and intelligence are have a loose correlation. Smart ladies are hot ladies in my book. So, in short, let's share some laughs!

I do my best to take care of my body by going to the gym every day. You only get one body, so I want mine to be in as good a condition as possible for as long as possible. So far, so good.

I'm pretty low maintenance. I would prefer it if you were, too. If I don't need to be a mind reader in order to have a successful relationship with you, I'll consider that a plus.

And lastly, in the interest of full disclosure, I recently moved to the area for a job. So I don't really have good date ideas yet. I'm open to suggestions, though. :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work as a database administrator. But work doesn't define me...not by a long shot. I do do speaking engagements in this area from time to time.

I also teach people how to kick ass (literally).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing Devil's Advocate. Even if I agree with what you're saying, I can say "but what about...". Oddly enough, I wasn't on the debate team in high school. Those guys were dorks. :P

I also like to think that I'm good at connecting the dots and making generalizations from observations. It serves me well in my professional life, but it's weird how this works in other areas, too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well... red hair isn't that common, so I think I'm going to have to go with that. However, this question is a bit weird; perhaps you should ask the people who've noticed things about me! Conversely, there's an easy way to find out. ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Music: I find guilty pleasure in epic hard rock. Amon Amarth, Manowar, Metallica, etc. I've also gotten into movie scores lately. But I enjoy most other types if the mood is right. Except for rap and most country.

Books: Cryptonomicon, Daemon, The Diamond Age, The Name of the Wind. So basically technological thrillers or fantasy. Yeah... I'm a dork.

Movies: Too many to count. I'm a netflix subscriber and I think that spoils me a little bit.

TV Shows: See also: netflix. But The Wire was phenomenal. I'm currently working my way through Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, both of which I enjoy.

Food: I'm not a picky eater. I like pad thai though. In the interest of full disclosure though, I do tend to eat in a fairly regimented way most of the time.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I don't want to be Maslowsian and say things like "food, shelter, water, air". But, I can't think of anything that I really need. I can be perfectly content not thinking about "stuff" for a really long time...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm really afraid of needles. Demonstrably so. So much so that when getting immunized for a trip to the Philippines, I passed out while sitting on the exam table. When I woke up, I was on the floor. The downside to that whole story is that they still had to give me two shots after I regained consciousness!
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
- You like puns and other such word play
- You've got something you think you could teach me (I love to learn!)
- You think that maybe we'd get along well
- You have an opinion on the Oxford comma. Of course, I'd prefer it if you had the *correct* opinion, but we can talk about that later. ;)
- You believe that there's so much more to a person than what they can possibly put in an online dating profile.
- Whimsy strikes
