My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
What is my 'Self'? Or, as the guy said in "I (Heart) Huckabees" (one of my favorite movies): "How am I not myself?"

If you hate philosophic/spiritual discussions like this, you should probably move on. I'm kind of a lapsed Zen Buddhist, but I did write a book about it (I'll give you a signed copy if you're nice to me) (I have like five dozen unsold copies sitting in a box).

What else...sigh. Like Katy Jagger said in "All That Jazz" (another of my favorite movies): "I have no more small talk."

If I were a playlist, I would be:

"Thank U" (Alanis Morisette)
"Driven to Tears" (Police)
"How Long" (Jose Gonzalez)
"I've Had It" (Aimee Mann)
"Handbags and Gladrags" (Rod Stewart)
"Life a Ship Without a Sail" (Pastor TL Barrett and his Choir)
"Valentine's Day" (James Taylor)
"The Saturday Boy" (Billy Bragg)
"Hand in My Pocket" (Alanis again---oh dear)

Look, I'll come right out and say I'm recently divorced, yet but remain shamelessly (shamefully?) hopeful about finding a Ms Right. Ideally I'd like to find someone geekier than she looks with great laugh lines (verbal and facial).

I'm not much of an outdoorsman; as Woody Allen said, "I am at two with nature". I love walking and *gentle* hiking. I like to swim. I love beaches. I like to bike (though the pollution in T.O. makes it hard on my 'sensitive' lungs). I haven't travelled a lot but do enjoy it when I do, and I've read a lot about different parts of the world--people often *think* I've been someplace because I can talk in detail about it. My favorite city apart from Toronto is New York (it's a wonderful town--the Bronx is up and the Battery's down) and I hope one day to visit London, Paris, and Tokyo--also Australia, as my mom was born there.

Not much of a fashion plate but I clean up purdy, with guidance. I love to eat but I don't like to spend more time cooking than eating, unless I'm helping someone else. I'm a good chopper.

My passion is board games: not so much Monopoly, Risk, or Catan as Mage Knight, Netrunner, and Galaxy Trucker. I go out once or twice a week to meetup and play with friends. And before you ask if I've heard of Snakes Lattes, I'll tell you that I'm a 'preferred customer'.

So that's a glimpse of my various Selfs (Selves?); I look forward to catching a glimpse of yours.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I teach Grades 6. I do some freelance tutoring and curriculum writing on the side. I spend time with my son. I read the Globe every day. A couple of times a week I go out gaming--Snakes & Lattes, or a Meetup.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...making people laugh, playing guitar, writing songs, teaching, seeing 'the big picture' instead of bogging down in details.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
...are that I talk a lot and with enthusiasm, and that I know a lot of random facts about 'things'. I wish they would notice that I was the silent, smolderingly-handsome type, but that never seems to happen.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...the usual things geeky guys think about: whether Firefly will come back; should I go to GenCon this year; will the next expansion for Race For The Galaxy be any good; when will I meet my soulmate. Stuff like that.
On a typical Friday night I am

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
