Something about me, hmm?
I am a writer
and a dreamer. I like my friends close and my
enemies out of my life. I don't have many friends, but those I do
have can pretty much ask me for anything and they will get it. I
love a good discussion
, or even a good argument, but I don't
like yelling matches. I have a sarcastic sense of humor and like to
get as good as I give. I'm a libertarian
in inclination, but
don't believe most of what the party tries to foist off on us. I'm
, an anime
fan and a very proud geek
. I'm also
, if you don't know what it is, I'll gladly tell
I am inquisitive, trustworthy, and comical
What I’m doing with my life
Attempting to get published and noticed. Finding more people to
share my life and times with. Getting my conventions up and running
to spread my fandom to the world. Buying my house.
Well, started the Conventions and then left them to others to
continue. Bought the house, now in the never ending cycle of
repairing it. Got married to my long term first relationship (and
that's great!) My Wife is blldandi1 here on OKC. Still looking for
others to share my life with, but I don't think that's supposed to
be a completable goal.
I’m really good at
Listening without judgement. Being the rock in a tidal pool. Being
the corniest person in a profiles page. Being somewhat humorous. At
least, I hope.
The first things people usually notice about me
What a GEEK! I guess it's good that I don't find that to be an
insult. I have embraced and entered a long term loving relationship
with my geekdom. You should have seen the proposal! He was all
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) Song of Ice and Fire series, Anything by Robert A Heinlein, Shakespeare, Elizabeth Moon, David Drake, Julian May, Anne McCaffrey, Found Brent Weeks a little while ago, and he's awesome. Check out Reality Disfunction if you like a semi-hard Sci-fi saga with mystical mystery mixed in. I'm loving it. Just into Patrick Rothfuss' series, waiting on the third novel there... Then started in on Gentleman Bastard's series by Scott Lynch. Last and best, Gail Z Martin. I've actually met her, and while her writing is excellent, she is even cooler still! Anyone not reading her is a moron.
B) Sin City, V for Vendetta, Zombie films (George Romero, 28 Days Later etc), My many many Anime DVD's, HEAT, HK Action. Since I got Netflix, well that's just killed a lot of my free time. Yay good movies delivered to my home electronically and instantly! Boo! for their decision to double the fee if you still want DVD's delivered. I hope they bring more choice to the instant list in compensation.
C) Pretty much anything except most rap. Not a big fan of country, but there are a few artists that I do like who fall into that category. But to be truthful I do listen to the type of music that is on the playlist of WFNX most often.
Well, no FNX anymore. That died a while ago. Bought by Clear Channel and killed because they had good music on it.
That may help define me for those who need definitions. Also, my listening preferences started in the eighties with the New Wave sound. As I progressed, I was a huge fan of Punk in my high school days. My college years expanded into Grunge and my work years I became more into Alternative. Throughout it all, however, most versions of Rock have been a constant companion through my life. Hard, Metal and Classic rock are all way cool. Then there is the folk thing.. I don't like to admit it sometimes, but there it is.
D) I don't think there's anything I won't eat. I've tried escargot for pete's sake! Wasn't too bad either.
The six things I could never do without
My Dearest, Friends, Books, Computer, Hiking gear, Dreams
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Much too much sometimes. It's like I just can't shut my brain off.
At work, it may be both a bad thing and a good thing that I have
tons of time to think. It doesn't help me shut up the thoughts, but
it allows me to get lots of ideas for my writing and gaming
On a typical Friday night I am
With my friends spending some time together either gaming or having
a low key party/bar-b-que type thing. I'm not big into the club
scene, though I like a good pub with a few friends to tip a pint
and discuss weighty topics. Though a cafe would do as nicely.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't just put private things out there. However, if we talk a bit and become friends, there is not much I hide from my friends.
You should message me if
If you are looking to expand your circle of friends or something a little more. I like to talk as I alluded to above and if it never goes beyond that, that's still cool. However I am also trying to use OKC for the dating/meeting reasons as well, so keep that in mind.
