I am scintillating, chaotic, and studious.

My Self-Summary

I thrive in comfort, so I spend a lot of my time in novels, headphones, and long skirts. I like long novels, eclectic film, music that both touches me lyrically and allows me to sing along really loud in my car, down blankets, green tea, dried flowers, TV series marathons, and traveling to new places. I've only been to Amsterdam, London, and Paris, but I'd like to expand on that list as soon as financially possible.

I love animals. I have 2 cats (Gus and Coletrane) and a beta that will outlive us all (Lucy).

I love to laugh and smile and just be generally silly. I'm passionate about words and obtaining knowledge. I'm completely open-minded about everything, but I'm really just generally annoyed, and sometimes pissed off, by ignorance, especially antisemitism, racists, and people who are homophobic.

Also... my profile does not say I'm interested in casual sex for a reason. I do not want to fuck you. STOP asking.

What I’m doing with my life

Enjoying being with the people I love and considering what my long-term career path might be.

I’m really good at

basically anything creative I usually thrive at. My degree is in Creative Writing, with a concentration in poetry. I haven't written much since graduation though. I blame this on the stresses of life due to not having an education in anything considered "useful" in today's economy. I draw reasonably well, though also infrequently.

I also sing... basically as often as is deemed socially acceptable. My father's side of the family can boast of a long list of great singers. I was lucky enough to inherit a bit of their gift. I also took private vocal lessons for most of my childhood because the school I went to didn't have a choir.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have a feeling that when I am initially introduced to some people they might think I am either stuck up or just rude, which is incorrect because I will forever be extremely non-confrontational and hate upsetting anyone. I just happen to have no verbal filter about some topics that may be deemed "inappropriate" by certain audiences. I've just always been a very open person and don't feel the restrictions that some people automatically put on conversation. Oddly, I think these same characteristics help me to make friends easily because I'm genuinely accepting and usually making people laugh.

I was also very unfortunate in the fact that I inherited my mother's family laugh. I love to laugh and mine tends to be very abrupt and loud, though I'm appreciative of the fact that it also tends to be contagious. Also people may notice I have my tongue pierced and three tattoos, one of a phoenix on my ankle, the word "sister" in red hebrew script on my left wrist, and John Lennon's self-portrait on my right inner forearm.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Listing my favorite books would be intensely satisfying for me, but probably very boring and annoying for anyone reading this. So, genres will have to suffice. First, I will forever be devoted to Jane Austen and all the not-always-so-great additions to her beloved stories by modern authors. I also read a lot of fantasy novels, whether meant for adults, young adults, or children.

Ok, I can't help myself...a SMALL list of favorites include: Letters to a Young Poet, The Twilight Series, The Seven Storey Mountain, Junky, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs, The Belgariad & Malloreon, Poems by Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath, Follett's Pillars of the Earth & World Without End, Lord of the Rings Series, Harry Potter, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Sookie Stackhouse novels, A Song of Ice and Fire Series, and Pride and Prejudice.

Favorite movies of all genres include House of Flying Daggers, Across the Universe, Harry Potter, Amelie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Labyrinth, What Dreams May Come, The Neverending Story, Love Actually, Mr. Holland's Opus, August Rush, High Fidelity, and Pride and Prejudice (BBC version).

I don't watch a lot of television, but I do have a weakness for TV shows on DVD. I own and adore Queer as Folk, Sex and the City, Buffy, Six Feet Under, House, Rome, and Firefly. The only things I watch pretty religiously are The Office (which is, in my opinion, the funniest show on television), Trueblood, and Grey's Anatomy... no matter how nerdy I am, I'm still a girl.

I'll listen to any type of music pretty much. Not a big fan of Rap or Hip Hop, but I'll still dance to it on occasion. I played saxophone for 9 years, so I'm a sucker for jazz music. My favorite band is Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. If you retain anything from looking over this profile, let it be this band to look up in the future. They continually amaze. Other favorites include The Beatles (love love love forever), Michael Jackson, Hanson, Toby Lightman, Alison Krauss, Belle and Sebastian, Our Lady Peace, Jewel, The Fray, Dolly Parton, VAST, John Coltrane (Coletrane being one of my cat's names), John Denver, James Taylor, et al.

Food... hmmm. Without restrictions, I would live on ice cream, sushi, and thai food.

The six things I could never do without

literature, my own comfort space, close family and friends, my cats, enlightening conversation, and music.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

where my current actions in life are taking me. What my cats are thinking.

On a typical Friday night I am

either out with my friend anna or bumming around the homestead with a good book.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm voluptuous -- in every sense of the word. I've heard I'm full figured; thick around the middle and quite generous on top. So if you're in to stick thin girls, you probably shouldn't talk to me.

Also, I've seen Hanson in concert 4 times. They are a guilty pleasure that I've retained since my early teens. don't judge.

You should message me if

you're a tall, nerdy guy with glasses. I'm such a sucker for those. Relationship-wise, I've had the most luck with the geek; guys who have a tendency to play video games (on occasion) and can fix my computer when I break it. I value confidence, but not arrogance. I don't handle bad grammar and/or spelling well, so I'd advise evaluating yourself before messaging me. I need someone who can keep me on my toes with intellectual conversations and make me laugh all the time. Someone who is passionate about something. If you've read Chuck Klosterman and/or David Sedaris and think they basically rock, it's probably a good sign about our potential friendship. And if you like SK6ERS, I'm more than willing to share the love.
