My wife and I are east coast transplants looking for new friends in Iowa area. We are not here to swing, swap, or help someone cheat on thier spouse.

We have lived in Iowa for a few years now and are finding it difficult to find other couples like ourselves to do things with. We lean toward the geekier side of life, I'm an Engineer and she is a programmer. We are both recovering Magic:TG addicts, both play RPGs, own an XBOX360 and a PS2, and I am a recovering World of Warcraft addict.

We are in search of singles or couples who like to get together and just hang out, play video games, watch movies, and play board games that most people have never heard of (Settlers of Catan, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Fluxx, Munchkin, Runebound, Guillotine, Red Dragon Inn, etc). The ideal would be another couple who are both gamer geeks with child(ren) around our daughters age.

We are a couple who chooses to live on the fringes of the norm. We live in a nice house in the suburbs (all we need is the white picket fence), but do not subscribe to many of the norms of the area. My wife is wiccan and I follow no religion but am drawn to the tenets of Buddhism. We used to DJ for a goth/industrial night but never considered ourselves goth, just people with good taste in music.

We realize that this is an odd forum to look for what we want, but we really haven't had much success finding people on our own.

Working in a field so geektacular that even the other engineers don't know what I do.

Other than that, raising our daughter, trying to have something resembling a social life.

Figuring stuff out, finding problems and correcting them, whining, solving puzzles (crossword, sudoku, logic, etc), fixing stuff, and coming up with different voices for each character in the book I'm reading to my daughter.

I'm also a decent cook, give a half-decent massage, and good at organizing things to make sure they get done on schedule.

That I'm extremely average in every way. 5'10", brown hair, brown eyes, medium build, etc.

That, and if we meet in person I won't talk much unitl I get to know you.

Books: mostly fantasy (Terry Brooks, David Eddings, Greg Bear, David Gemmel, Mickey Zucker Reichert), some philosophy (buddhism, Nitsche)

Movies: Our collection includes lots of anime, sci-fi, comedies, with a few chick flicks (my wife laughs at me cuz those are mine)

Food: Not too picky, so long as it doesn't include mammals. (for the uninformed, that means I eat chicken and fish but not beef or pork). My favorites would be Sushi, good Mexican, and Italian.
