My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
English born/US citizen, been here 35 years, before retirement I was in software development (CAD systems), like cats, most animals, most people; enjoy cooking, enjoy interesting food; taken up pottery recently; fixing an injury - otherwise ski, walk, gentle bicycle rides; somewhat dyslexic, quite disorganized - but like order, sometimes silly, sometimes too serious, usually doing something, but sometimes ‘nothing’, social, but also at ease with my own company, a little deaf – does not equal bad listener, some exercise / taichi, some good habits, and I am sure, some bad . . .
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Mastering being retired . . . beginning to do those things that have been ignored for too long, like the garden . . . travel, time to read a bit more, learning to be a potter . . . enjoying daily life without the trappings of a work day :-)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Never? I would find it hard to live without:
Friends and family.
A good conscience.
Reasonable freedom of choice.
Ability to enjoy the beauty of the world.
One more? OK . . . good food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How best to enjoy the immediate future. What things to do with friends and neighbors (helping out where needed).
Things that might improve our somewhat broken political (governmental?) system.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There are fewer typical Fridays now I am retired. With friends dining, at a movie, theater, sometimes concert, at home . . . sometimes alone. Depends what's happening.
