I am empathetic, energetic, and enthusiastic.

My Self-Summary

I've always enjoyed going out on my own. I have as much fun walking to a happening as I do when I'm there. I can explore my surroundings, stop to hear a street musician, and not worry about holding anybody up. When I'm with friends, however, I often feel obligated to give all my attention to them, almost as if I'm supposed to entertain them. It's exhausting.
I say this because I want to be with someone I won't feel that obligation towards. You should know that solitude, my time to explore and figure my life out, is really important to me. Hope you don't mind.
Then again, I've wondered if there's someone special who could take up all my time and that still wouldn't be enough... Probably somewhere in between...

But that's surely not enough to sum me up. Life is good because it's different every day. I'm spontaneous. I will never take the same exact route to get to school twice in a row. If you take the same road every day to get to the same place... well, I'd be glad to give you a grand tour of the city!

It makes me sad when I see that people aren't engaged in the moment. It makes me just a little mad when people don't pretend to be, and instead, just sit and wait for it all to be over.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm very engaged in what's going on in my life in the moment. I don't think too much about the past or the future. I embrace change, in my character, my goals, and my ideologies.
So, what am I doing with my life? My plan was to go to the U of A next semester. I've been at Pima for two and a half semesters, and it's time to move on. But I'm seriously considering the ASU School of Social Work (I wouldn't be if they didn't have their campus right here in Tucson). I want to be a community organizer when I grow up, working to improve the lives of the poor and the immigrants of my community.
I got my first job as a writing tutor at the college, and am glad that I don't have to deal with the stigma of leaving the Employment History section of applications blank anymore.
I'm part of a drum group called Batucaxe. We play Afro-Brazilian rhythms, like samba, and songs.
Finally, I'm constantly going to free events. There are so many interesting things I find around town that I'm astounded when I hear that there's nothing to do in Tucson.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at conversations. I hate the question, "How are you?" because the answer is invariably "fine," "good," "great," or "ok." I'm good at asking questions and listening because I can almost always find something that's interesting about what the person is saying.
I'm good at dancing. Well, I can definitely feel the rhythm, but my nerves sometimes get in the way when I'm dancing with a lady. I'm working on that, though.
I'm good at finding simple ways to enjoy myself, without the stress that spending money or driving brings.
I'm good at making people feel comfortable around me.

The first things people usually notice about me

People ask me if I'm from Tucson because I apparently have a bit of an accent. They say I sound like I'm from Europe or Australia. (Sorry. Born and raised in the 520!)
More often, though, people who don't even know me very well say that I'm a very positive person because I'm always smiling and looking around at my surroundings and all the faces I could meet.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite book: Fiction- "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" (by the author of "Everything Is Illuminated"). Nonfiction- "The Definitive Book of Body Language" (but I'm not going to reveal anymore about that!).
Favorite Movie: "Magnolia"
Favorite music: hip hop
Favorite band: Sufjan Stevens
And Favorite food: Italiano

The six things I could never do without

1) Solitude
2) A sense of progress/movement toward something better
3) A.D.D. medicine!
4) An open mind
5) Ears to listen to the wisdom of others
6) Notebook (and pen) to listen to myself

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what's next, and how can tomorrow be a better day. But my intellectual curiousity moves across numerous subjects, from moment to moment. I've decided to just read magazine articles and the newspaper because I usually can't hold that level of engagement and interest for an entire book.

On a typical Friday night I am

doing untypical things.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to romance. I'm just excited for any opportunity to learn and grow.

You should message me if

you feel any inspiration to do so!
