My self-summary
Let's go out and do something! I'm an easy-going guy who enjoys all the things Colorado has to offer. I'm looking for someone else with whom to share my time and experiences.

I'm fairly liberal in my world views and I believe education is the key to solving all of our problems. I'm a huge fan of learning and I intend to continue to educate myself on a wide variety of topics until the day I die. Consequently, I'm also rather analytical. It's not enough for me to know that a thing works. I want to know how it works and whether or not it can be improved. I also much prefer to be corrected when I'm wrong, instead of politely accommodated.

I love to laugh. I know it's cliché to say that, but there are some solemn dudes out there and that ain't me. More importantly, I love to make *you* laugh. My goal is to get that can't-breathe laugh that turns your face red and makes your abs ache. That's what makes me happy.
What I’m doing with my life
I pack my weekends pretty full with a variety of hobbies. I participate in a lot of motorsports (fourwheeling and car racing, primarily). I also run a lot and bike a fair amount.

During the week, I'm an IT guy for a start-up in Boulder. It's challenging work, but rewarding. Plus, it puts me in downtown Boulder every night of the week. There's always something going on.
I’m really good at
Listening. To paraphrase a quote from Fight Club, many people aren't really listening. They're just waiting for their turn to speak. I enjoy hearing what you have to say, whether or not I agree with you. More viewpoints are always good.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My all-time favorite book is Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I'm also a big fan of nearly everything Kurt Vonnegut has written. A few others I've recently enjoyed: We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Frankenstein, The Plague, 1984 and The Good Earth. Lately, I've acquired a new appreciation for Charles Dickens. Tale of Two Cities has long been one of my favorites and I just finished The Pickwick Papers. Amazing wordsmith.

I like movies by the Coen brothers and Wes Anderson. I do not like movies by Michael Bay. Plot > explosions.

I enjoy a wide variety of music, although I'm not a fan of country. I like jazz, down-tempo, old school rap, swing/big band, alternative, blues, and several other genres. A few favorites: People Under the Stairs, The Metric, Thievery Corporation, Franz Liszt, Hybrid

I'm pretty much wide open on food. If it doesn't have shrimp (allergy) or suction cups (revulsion), I'll probably like it. As a Philly native, there's a soft spot in my heart for a good Philly cheesesteak.
The six things I could never do without
I'm not sure I can come up with six...

Challenges - I can't imagine not working on something to improve myself, whether that's a new hobby, a continuing education class, an exciting job, or a tough workout. Stagnation is terrifying to me.

Family - I know everyone says this, but here's why it's valuable to me. I've had some amazing friendships during my life, some of which I thought were so perfect, we'd be companions forever. It hasn't ever worked out that way, though. For a multitude of reasons, best friends become infrequent acquaintances or just another Facebook contact. Family is definitely forever, though. Sometimes I hate their guts, but, no matter how much we change or how much we disagree, we all have to suck it up and accept the differences. I'd give everything I have for a family member and I know they'd do the same for me. Knowing that I have that relationship and knowing that it will never change while we're alive is comforting and valuable to me.

Ice Cream - No explanation needed.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually hittin' the hay at a reasonable hour. I enjoy going out on the town, but I have plans for early Saturday morning more often than I do for Friday night. I'm well past the age where I could go out on a bender and still roll out of bed at the crack of dawn for a full day up in the mountains.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
What an odd topic. We don't even put our real names in these profiles, yet we're supposed to reveal something intimate about ourselves? Hmmph. Alright fine. I have severe arachnophobia. They don't gross me out and I have no trouble dealing with them once I get a handle on the situation, but man oh man, when I first see one, I have a moment of pure panic. Absolutely frozen in my tracks. Sad, but true.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30–42
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if want to see the coolest parts of Colorado with a laid-back guy. I've been doing it for years alone, but I'd rather have someone by my side.
