I am compassionate, hyper-feminine, and abstract.
My Self-Summary
Just FYI, being as I will be back in school heavy-duty now, I'm
going to take a break from OKC for a while. I'll probably be back,
but I can't really say for sure when. Send a message anyway, if
you're interested. I know me--I'll peek in now and then in spite of
myself. Damn curiosity!
Ok, I'm single (uh, I guess that's sort of a 'well, duh' statement,
but nonetheless...) with no children. I very much want children,
but I am going to be very honest and point out
I
don't want someone else's children. In other words, if you have
kids, good luck, but I'd really not be interested.
I'm in school currently for my Associate's with the ultimate
intention to study
psychology and/or teaching
languages. I speak
French reasonably
well, but by no means fluently, and I've learned a smattering of
Scottish
Gaelic (gu dearbh!)
I love to
travel,
but I don't get to escape nearly often enough for my taste. I like
road trips,
flying, and
whatever other means works to get me away from northern illinois
for a bit.
I guess I'm pretty
introspective. I can't do anything
without analyzing it do death first. Whether that's a good or a bad
thing I'll leave you to decide. The older I get, the more I realize
and am forced to admit I'm pretty old-fashioned where relationships
are concerned. I have absolutely no desire to be Donna Reed, or
anything, but the whole
white picket fence ideal does
have a mysterious appeal. Also, just fyi, I have a habit usually of
not using capitals. Thus the inconsistency in this profile; I tend
to forget them even when I'm intending to look reasonably educated.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm finally going to graduate with an Associate's in December. I
plan to go straight into a four-year program and finish that
relatively quickly thereafter, assuming i don't end up a derelict
first. then, we'll see about the master's. then we'll figure out
how to pay for all that on a job that probably pays less then 40k a
year. =p it's all an adventure--i wouldn't do it if it weren't
worth the ride!
I’m really good at
rationalizing things i want. listening actively. learning languages
for the hell of it. singing in the car. making my mom's cats purr.
staying up and sleeping late. cutting corners in my budget lately.
The first things people usually notice about me
i'm compassionate and open-minded. hypocrisy drives me to
distraction. if not that, then i suppose either my eyes or my quite
fair complexion.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
a) oy. the
agatha christie library, the
lord of the rings, stephen r. donaldson's
mirror of her dreams books;
a man rides through and mordant's need,
jane eyre (and no, not because i
studied it in a women's studies class---read it on my own.
so...um...there.) anything
john bellairs ever wrote or
edward
gorey illustrated.
b) easier recognized ones would be the lord of the rings trilogy,
the
princess bride,
while you were sleeping,
practical
magic,
bridget jones's diary
(not all chick flicks suck!),
the pink panther movies
(
peter
sellers, please), thoroughly modern millie, auntie mame, the
shining, notorious, the thin man, north by northwest, the first two
austin powers movies, the original (or should i say real) star wars
trilogy,
blazing saddles,
young
frankenstein,
spaceballs,
robin hood: men in
tights (ok, most all of
mel brooks' stuff), and the sean
connery and roger moore
james bond movies. less well-known
ones are
transylvania twist,
salem's lot (the
original full-length miniseries version with starsky and james at
15),
the house on haunted
hill (
vincent price version) (damn, has
every good movie been re-made into a bad one lately, or what?!)
this could go on, but i'll cut myself off here. =)
c) well, probably first and foremost
crowded house and
the beatles, then
sting, depeche mode, the
cranberries, cheesy 80s pop, what used to be termed 'alternative'
(though it's pretty much mainstream now), and good ol' fashioned
rock (AC/DC and the like). i'm into a lot of celtic music,
especially
capercaillie (the zenith of the
genre), and recently discovered
great big sea--i might be in
love. it's helpful if it's in my voice range (or an octave above or
below), because if i can sing along, it makes it even better.
d) good mexican food is hard to find, but i love it! i'm a
carnivore at heart, i guess.
red meat is just lovely, though poultry
works, too. i also love
salad. if we go out and i order a salad,
it's not an image thing. i just really likes the veggies. =) if i
were truly honest, i'd just say i like food. 'nuff said.
The six things I could never do without
singing
warm weather
traveling
pets
burt's bees honey lip balm
high spf sunscreen
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how i'm gonna pay for school, and groceries, and gas, and rent, and
my car...at the same time. (eek!)
On a typical Friday night I am
wishing i was leaving for a long weekend somewhere else....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
i think i'm double-jointed...
You should message me if
you speak French and want someone to talk to who will make a lot of
really goofy grammatical errors. =p or you feel the need to have a
long chat about the possibility that our planet...is really only a
particle in an atom that makes up a blade of grass in a larger
universe. or you just like me. i'm open to that! =)
