Your Notes
Edit your notesI am acute, acerbic, and alliterative.
My Self-Summary
I like live music, but the venue has to be "right" (the Fillmore is bad, Cafe du Nord is good). NoisePop convinced me that the Rickshaw Stop is OK too (almost as good as the Bottom of the Hill).
I used to be obsessed with shooting pool, but don't play so much anymore.
I'm an avid skier (and a very poor snowboarder). I should have made it up a few more times this year. The season is over for me, trying to get back into sailing again.
I like motorcycles and bicycles a lot, but don't ride either as much as I used to (or as much as I should).
Lately, I've been practicing the guitar a bit more than usual: some small progress is being made.
What I’m doing with my life
Obsessing over craigslist sailboat ads.
I’m really good at
avoiding filling these boxes.
improvising food from stuff that's been in my kitchen for a long time.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Pynchon, DFW (his suicide made me lose one-author worth of hope), PG Wodehouse, Richard Powers, Neal Stephenson, and Richard Dawkins.
Music:
Pixies, Nels Cline, Cecil Taylor, Kristin Hersh, Guitar Wolf, Pere Ubu, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, The Catherine Wheel, Bud Powell. Recently became obsessed with Say Hi to Your Mom. I think I like interesting Jazz, indie-rock in general (and "shoegaze" (a term I learned recently) in particular)
Movies:
Lawrence of Arabia, Bladerunner, Brazil, Rushmore, Lonestar, Svankmajer's Alice, Hard Boiled, Fight Club, and almost anything that has zombies. I own Rushmore and Lost in Translation on DVD and watch pieces of them often.
The six things I could never do without
If I was to attempt to answer this as a "desert island" question, it would
be kind of boring and practical like: a machete, a large volume of purified drinking water, a companion with medical training, materials for production
of fire, materials for making coffee, books.
I don't see especially well, and have some dry-eye problems (too much computer time), so maybe glasses and eyedrops would be good answers.
