My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Update: Been here a year (!) but still getting to know the city. I'm always looking for something new to try or a new conversation with a new friend or seeing the friends I now know in a new venue...

A few notes...
I was a debater in high school. And a cheerleader. And surprisingly, the only person in both activities.
I believe that no one else is responsible for me. I will make myself into who I want to be.
I own too many pairs of headphones because I always want a pair near me.
I believe the poetry in life comes from the experiences we have with the people we meet and the things we do.
I think differently than most people I know. This doesn't mean I have different opinions, it means my process is unique.
I value strength (both physical and strength of self), intelligence, independence, laughter, and experience.
I am opening up to the idea of finding someone to be a significant other. But really, I think I'm only ready to find a notable other at this point.
I jump into new things without looking and with both feet. If someone invites me to try something new, I will. Usually.
I believe that being an adult means I get to choose how I spend my free time. I usually spend my free time with my friends.
I am a geek. Or a nerd. Or a dork. I don't subscribe to the differences therein, because honestly, I just am who I am.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Lately I've been focussed on two goals: facing my fears and learning new things... It's been an incredible experience using these as my motivation to do new things.

Along these lines, just thought I'd update to say I kinda broke my collarbone trying to skateboard. (Straight lines, I do fine, but can't turn the board. Apparently.) So, you know, sometimes learning new things is really learning your limits...
...I can still rollerblade circles around most people though. Yep. (If you could see me right now, you'd see me waggling my eyebrows...)

And I travel (for work and personally) a lot. Quite a bit, actually. So seeing new cities and getting to know the culture there is nice. :) I'll be spending the winter in Chicago off and on for work and traveling for myself when I have the opportunity (although now these trips compete with my desire to get to know LA). Mostly domestic travel, but I recently visited Copenhagen, Zurich, and Florence for some time off.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
working hard and learning fast...
pushing myself to do more things...
meeting new people...
debating semantics, especially as I am forced to do this for work...

laughing (often at my own misadventures)...

Recently started practicing capoeira, but not so good at it yet. (Yet.)
Oh, and I threw a touchdown last season of Flag Football! (Not really good at that either - but I do try!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smart-ass attitude that's paired with my laid-back nature
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

When I read, it's to escape, so I read a lot, and a lot of different kinds of books (you get extra points if you've read Hofstadter's GEB). I don't really have time for movies or shows... although when I'm on flights I have an affinity for action or adventure movies. As far as TV goes, I watch comedies online (Silicon Valley is pretty funny, I like the Mindy Project and most other major sitcoms out now), and re-watching older series from start to finish on Netflix... And food? I love sushi, and enjoy a good meal. I really savor a good steak. And beer. Yay beer!

But music, music I love. I have my earbuds in whenever I'm alone. I listen to new music all the time - generally I like Indie Rock and Pop, but am open to almost all genres. I have found that I like music with a strong beat and good harmonics, and songs that feature changes in key or tempo. Bonus points for good lyrics and songs where you notice something new after you've heard it 300 times...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The people in my life...
and five other things.... I guess.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
If there was any one quote that neatly summarizes much of my personal philosophy, it would be this:

"I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed, but who cares, really? The answer must be in the attempt."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
out with friends, grabbing some beer or seeing a show or otherwise having a good time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I can't raise a single eyebrow. This has become a source of frustration as my sarcasm would be greatly reinforced through this talent.
