I am Sarcastic, Introverted, and Adventerous.

My Self-Summary

I try and see things from as many perspectives as I can. That is often interpreted as being argumentative or contrary. I like to think of myself as a challenger of assumptions or perhaps I just love to argue or stick up for the underdog. I consider myself a kind and laid back person and stick by my friends no matter what.

I work for the federal government and have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit the last couple of years. I bought a townhouse in Alexandria in 2004 but haven't really made it feel like "home" yet. Having recently returned from almost a year overseas I have found that many of my friends have gotten married or moved away. Those that haven't sadly spend all their time watching cable, Netflix, Tivo, etc...not exactly a stimulating good time. I am not going to say I won't watch TV, but I would rather be out and doing something that will provide me some real memories.

I would like to find an open minded, adventurous, and independent woman to have some fun times with.

I am "liberal" on social matters and civil rights issues while fairly conservative economically. I have strong opinions on a lot of matters, but I couldn't care less about things that seem to occupy much of other peoples.

I tend to drive around a lot looking for things to get into, or perhaps my horrible navigation skills find me lost more often than not.

I am about 3 months into regularly working out. I am finding that without 3 or 4 visits to the gym every week and a hike or two on the weekends I now feel pretty crappy. I am hoping to keep this up for the long haul and looking to diversify my activities so I don't get bored or acclimated.

I like to hang out in a neighborhood dive bar with PBR on tap and am known as the "quiet guy"...I have fun just people watching at times. I don't generally like places where you can't move and or have a conversation with the person next to you without shouting.

I am intrigued by watching the interactions of other people..probably why I love people watching so much. Perhaps I just like to see people do things that I wouldn't ordinarily do.

Since getting back to the states in August of this year I have been trying to get out and enjoy the outdoors so hiking and camping are high on my list of fun things to do. It is just an awesome and refreshing experience to get out off the beaten path, and I will do it in just about any weather.

What I’m doing with my life

Working for the federal government. I have to admit, a little shiver went down my back when I raised my hand and swore my oath. I think we have a great country and a great people. I have wanted to serve from an early age. I have that chance now, but am probably still going to modify my career somewhat.

I’m really good at

Managing details and snap decisions, operating independently

The first things people usually notice about me

I am pretty reserved. People generally find me to be serious and restrained upon 1st meeting me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

To Kill a Mockingbird, Catch 22, nerdy love for Alternate History Books, lots of unread current affairs and history type books on my shelves which I am working my way through

"Glory", Boondocks Saints, Tears of the Sun, Blackhawk Down, Clerks, Office Space, The Breakfast Club

The Office, Battlestar Galactica, Top Gear, Frontline, BBC News, X-Files (own all seasons), other 24 hour news networks just as a reference point not because they are generally any good

John Williams, Dave Matthews Band, Nina Simone, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Harper, Cypress Hill, Snow Patrol, Bagpipe Music, random stuff but not really into most new country. Johnny Cash and the like are fine

Anything spicy...Indian, Thai, Ethiopian...also love Pizza and pub food but doesn't everyone?

The six things I could never do without

1.) My Passport
2.) My GPS
3.) The Internet
4.) Friends
5.) Music
6.) Excercise

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future
Travel
Food
Procrastinating
Sleep
Where the day went

On a typical Friday night I am

At a dive bar people watching, driving around aimlessly..or going to bed early so that I can get up early to go hiking on Saturday. I am trying to cut down on the dive bar action..it is getting a bit old.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Not much..you will really have to get to know me to obtain private details

You should message me if

If you are looking for a laid back and open minded person as a friend or possibly more

If you consider yourself to be a risk taker and not "high maintenance"

If you can pack for a weekend trip in 1 small bag

If a driving rainstorm doesn't bother you

If you enjoy thunder and lightning
If you aren't rude or abusive to customer service people just because you can be

You realize how lucky we are to live in a free country with immense opportunities available to us
