My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I live to learn, grow and connect. My life is full of projects and experiments (physical, social, etc.). I see my life as one big long project, experiment, and art installation of sorts. I'm working hard to make it what I want it to be, without taking any one part of it too seriously.

Family, friends and community are really at the heart of it all; the glue with which I assemble everything else. I'm not interested in living in a vacuum.

If I'm not creating something, or learning something new, or getting to know someone better, I'm bored out of my mind. I'd rather be playing music than watching TV.

I like myself quite well the way I am, but am on a mission of perpetual self-evolution. Opening to the idea of creating a new and meaningful synergy with the right partner.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Building small off-grid houses for my friends in the woods. Currently (since '09) living at a village in the mountains outside of Asheville. Learning about responsible homesteading. Building instruments, furniture, anything with wood. Playing an obscene amount of music (anything with strings.) Illustrating the psychedelic experience with ink or paint or mud. Staring at trees for long periods of time, then turning them into things (like houses.)

Dancing my feet off; Going to bull-fights on acid, taking naps in the rain. (well, out of the rain.) Sitting quietly by my wood stove for long periods. Trying not to feel a bit guilty about how much I like my life.

Seeking a partner in crime...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Gosh... that "really" next to the "good" makes this a bit tricky...
I guess I would say that I appreciate my own abilities and efforts in:

Living in a conscious way, Making small things meaningful (approaching them with purpose), Working with trees/wood, Playing music (mostly stringed instruments), Learning about life as if I'm forever brand new to this world (still oft times feels true), Examining myself from a place outside of myself (those rare and precious ego-free moments), Listening, Being patient and tolerant of folks' natural limitations.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes (I'm told they change color). My tattoos. Then my cold-prickliness, then my warm-fuzziness. My sometimes-excessive use of honesty (I refuse to lie to make someone feel better), and my [almost] non-existent fear of being "that guy." My inappropriately overzealous use of punctuation(*!*).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books and Movies: anything that makes get ideas that I have to stop and write down. All-time favorite authors include: Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Cervantes, Kant (ya, I know), Hesse, Camus, Huxley, Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Robert Persig, Terrence Mckenna, Fritjof Capra, Thich Nhat Hanh, ...

Music: lately I prefer music that requires some level of talent to perform- mostly acoustic, mostly jazzy. I've still got a deep soft spot for jam bands left over from earlier years. Once in a while I've been known to show my face a Phish show or two (or fifty.) I used to say that I could listen to anything I could dance to; I'm not sure that's true anymore.

Food: fresh, local, organic. The closer to my kitchen and my back yard, the better.
And yet, I'm still (and will always be) very much an opportunivore.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. LISTS. My life is full of them.

2. MY HANDS (counting both of them and all my fingers as one "thing"... although I guess I could live without my pinkies...)

3. A FRIEND... someone I can tell anything to, with no fear.

4. TREES. Much of my world revolves around the forest.

5. FRUIT. I really can't imagine a life without fruit.

6. A GUITAR. Playing music makes me happy and keeps me sane.

8. PUSHING THE LIMITS, Stretching the boundaries.

1. THE INTERNET. I use it 'cause it's around, but...

2. TELEVISION. I didn't grow up on TV; I don't own one now.

3. TALL FENCES (do not make good neighbors.)

4. BARKING DOGS (also do not make good neighbors.)

5. THE MAN. We'd all be better off without him, whoever he is.

6. DOGMA, TABOOS, and CULTURAL NORMS. (Shove 'em.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Thought. Light. Music. Traveling. Learning new skills.
How to get better at living my life.

(...and how I've deliberately been single for about half of my adult life, and starting to feel something [lacking?] could be different [?])...

Homesteading- building my house in the woods, exploring a more holistic lifestyle and (with the right partner) having at least one child, eventually.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm not good with keeping track of what day it is. Every night can be friday night. Or Thursday night. I don't really work/live in the world that celebrates Friday as the end of a monotonous work-week and the beginning of a 48 hour party. Often I spend my evenings either playing music (most nights) or looking for live music. Lately I've been staying home with a book, or a guitar, by the fire, or writing or sketching.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes I pick my nose at stop lights. Shamelessly.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You actually read this whole page, and took a moment to consider whether we might have anything of value in common.

You are open to exploring the possibility of a new relationship, and you could imagine yourself wanting to live a lifestyle that would mesh with mine. (That doesn't mean having to live in the woods forever, necessarily.)

You are excited by learning, growing, and experiencing new things.

You would describe yourself as independent, compassionate, empathetic, open-minded, forgiving, nurturing and warm-hearted.

You don't NEED me in order to feel "complete."

DEAL-BREAKERS include: Materialists, germ-aphobes, dirt-aphobes, tech-junkies, drama-junkies, any-other-kinda-junkies, religious zealots and fundamentalists, and basically anyone else who identifies themselves solely with one particular extreme ideology.

You are interested in exploring all that life has to offer.
