Books: I'm a giant book nerd. I <3 <3 <3 the
Harry Potter series
(don't judge), and just recently started reading (and read through)
the
Sookie
Stackhouse books.
The
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy makes me laugh every time, and
The
Princess Bride is another favorite. I like a lot of classics, I
was that jerk in school that liked to read for Lit.
To Kill A
Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time. (I have a
weird obsession with books set in the American South) I also enjoy
non-fiction, usually social commentary, history, biographies and
memoirs. Really though, I'll read anything that I can put my hands
on. Recently I've also been reading a LOT of blogs.
Movies: I am woefully behind in my movie watching. It's tragic and
embarrassing, and if you want to improve my movie knowledge, I'm
all for it, I'll make the popcorn. :) I don't usually watch horror
because I'm a big wuss, but other than that I am game. Netflix is
helping me expand my horizons (I finally saw
The Goonies 2/8/10), the problem
being that I keep watching kids movies and documentaries.
TV: I don't have cable, but I DO have dvds and the magic of the
internet. I am newly obsessed with
Glee, *love*
Arrested Development, and
have a bit of an addiction to The Biggest Loser. I also really like
South Park,
The Daily
Show,
Mythbusters, and a bunch of other
stuff.
True
Blood and
Weeds
are also on the list. I also <3<3<3
stand-up comedy. OH! And
Jeopardy! I'm totally obsessed with
Jeopardy!
Music: I like emo and country, and am never allowed to be in charge
of the radio for some odd reason... :D I *do* understand that my
taste in music is fairly random and often terrible. Except for the
90s alt-rock. That I will stand by. I like going to shows, and have
seen a variety, from The Deftones to Brad Paisley, Nine Inch Nails
to Celine Dion (AND she did a tribute to Freddie Mercury, so I have
to love her now). Most recently I saw Third Eye Blind...I love them
enough that even though I had no one to go with, I was a total
creeper and went alone. It was totally worth it.
Food: I love cooking at home as well going out to try new things. I
love good
beer. I
have a pretty big nerdcrush on
Michael Pollan. I love
vegetarian and vegan food, but I like variety way too much to give
up meat entirely. I try to cook seasonally and I've been getting
better about choosing local foods. I'm learning to cook more ethnic
foods at home. I've been planning a container garden, and learning
to make cheese, bake bread and just generally finding various ways
to be like the
Little House girls. I adore cooking
for people, and I collect
vintage cookbooks.
Other
Random
Interests: I love
baseball, and I'm a
Phillies girl all the way. I also
knit (I'm still
learning), and I love to
ski.
Xkcd makes me laugh.
Scrabble is my favorite board game. I
<3
air
hockey :D
