My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Warning/Cuidado/Achtung/опасность:
If you are 1) pro-life, 2) homophobic/anti-gay marriage, or 3) don't "believe" in evolution or if you have an inclination to take The Bible over hard scientific evidence--we're not going to work. A lot of people get butthurt over this statement, but these are values, beliefs, and truths that I hold very dear and I like to be upfront about everything.

Native Texan neuroscientist. No kids and I've never been married. I do have two dogs: one pitbull/boxer and one pitbull/mastiff.

I was raised by a progressive liberal mother (who was raised by her Marine (WWII, Guadalcanal if you're curious about that sort of thing)/cop father) who taught me about cars and how to fix stuff as well as stereotypical domestic bs.

My first word was no.

My first sentence was, "You're not the boss of me."

In short, I'm stubborn and independent to a fault sometimes. I like figuring things out on my own even if it takes longer. Sometimes I need someone to remind me that it's okay to ask for help.

I like beer. A LOT.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently finished a neuroscience degree and I'm on a track towards medical school, hopefully. Not for the money so much as the humanitarian aspect. Seriously. I enjoy helping human beings. I'm planning on pediatric and adolescent psychiatry and doing pro bono work with combat PTSD and TBI cases. I would really like to help my best friend start a free clinic for veterans. Being a psychiatrist in a jail also really appeals to me.

(I don't subscribe to the pill peddling school of psychiatry so don't even go there. Medication is simply one of the tools in psychiatry, not a magic bullet.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
figuring it out on my own, making dessert, spelling, giving peritoneal injections to rats, listening, telling the truth without being an asshole, semantics, finding the loophole, stain removal, and boobs.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I say what I think, like on a ready, fire, aim basis. It just means you'll never wonder where you stand with me. Trust me on that one.

Physically? Generally my rack, my eyes, and my laugh. Sometimes I have a Texan accent.

The first things that *I* notice about people---whether they know the difference between your and you're, the way they text and use language, smell, hands, smile, laugh, voice, the way they react to animals, children, and/or other humans in general (especially the way they treat waiters/waitresses), how well they deal with things not going their way and delayed gratification.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
WORDS----The Odyssey, Night by Elie Wiesel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Beloved by Toni Morrison, Othello, Kahlil Gibran, Harry Potter, Neil Gaiman, William Faulkner, Pablo Neruda, Isabel Allende, Anna Akhmatova, Like Water For Chocolate, Federico Garcia Lorca, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jorge Luis Borges, Tennessee Williams, Dante Alighieri, Jorge Luis Borges, Flannery O'Connor, Albert Camus, Langston Hughes, Lysistrata, The Jungle, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy

MUSIC---Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, George Clinton, Girl Talk, Portishead, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Blackalicious, The Roots, anything Motown, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Tool, NIN, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello, Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Massive Attack, Tricky, The Black Keys, Stevie Wonder, Bjork, David Bowie, Jean Grae, Iggy Pop, Jay-Z, Dragonette, Florence + The Machine, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, John Lee Hooker, Erik Satie, Black Star, Die Antwoord

TV + MOVIES---Death Proof, 2 Broke Girls (if Max doesn't offend you, we'll get along), Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Rescue Me, The Sopranos, The Expendables (don't judge!) Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Inglourious Basterds, Step Brothers, Pan's Labyrinth, Tommy Boy, Goodfellas, PCU, Friday, Juno, Wedding Crashers, any of the X-Men movies, and almost any horror/scary movie

FOOD----anything spicy, Italian, Tex-Mex, Thai, Indian, sushi--I think it also depends on the mood I'm in and the amount of time I have. In an ideal world, I would have time to cook and bake and all that, but in the real world, I'm usually living off of Trader Joe's trail mix and dried chile mango, and caffeine.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
words (written and spoken), music, the ability to recognize my own mistakes, my voice, my car, my dogs.

Because...The living, breathing, eating, fucking answers ought to be obvious.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how to save the world,am I doing the right thing, why in the hell do people do the things they do and act they way they do, need vs. want...and of course sex.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with the doges. Friday nights are usually my nights for relaxing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I made out with a gay man once.
