I am engaging, passionate_, and open.
My Self-Summary
Imagine a guy who like most of us suckered right into the middle
class dream of a decent paying 8-5 job; and then one day woke up. I
am well educated with a masters degree in of all things computer
science. I did the corporate thing for many years and found my true
passion. I started practicing
yoga, which led me to discover myself. I
quit the job, traveled the country for a year, and started a new
life.
I am profoundly happy with my life now and everything in it. Over
the years I've taken up numerous things; to name a few: I remodeled
my kitchen with my own two hands, I'm a musician, a former athlete
(starting to re-enter the
triathlon world), I learned
acroyoga, I picked up
fire
spinning, and most recently
aerial acrobatics (silks). I
also enjoy or have enjoyed
mountain biking,
swimming,
road biking,
caving,
skydiving (not anymore though),
skiing (snow and/or
water), and oh the list goes on. I love to do too many things and
wish I had time to do them all!!
In short I am a centered, well rounded, well traveled man whose
passions flow through
music,
nature,
adventure,
yoga,
acrobatics, craftsmanship, and much
more. I play hard and relax soft; I listen and speak from the
heart; I love passionately and openly.
That's most of my outward facets. The inside, my soul, my heart,
that's hard for me to make vulnerable in this setting. Hard for me
to even describe, although I share it openly with those around me.
A yoga student of mine recently said that if her husband couldn't
be there for the birth of her child she'd want me there instead. I
don't even know what to write after that. I am a very sensitive,
kind, loving man looking for romantic love.
*** A little blurb about my drinking status since enough people
have asked. I'm not an alcoholic or in AA. Not drinking is a choice
I made years ago. Also no, I don't have a problem with your
drinking but if alcohol is necessary for you to have a good time we
won't fit well together. ***
What I’m doing with my life
I'm helping people find themselves and in so doing finding myself.
I teach
yoga and give
Thai massage
for a living. Discovering yoga changed my life completely, I found
a way to directly impact people's lives for the better. To share
with my students the gift that so dramatically helped my personal
growth is the most important thing I'm doing with my life. That and
the never ending journey of discovery and growth, seeking balance
in all things.
I’m really good at
A lot of things - seemingly the more I try the more I'm good at.
This comes not from a place of ego but a place of deep gratitude to
the realization that limitations are for the most part false and
purely self-imposed. I do silly human tricks on my hands or with
other people. I play piano and guitar. I'm great at eating so I've
learned to be a decent cook. I build and fix things. I spin
fire poi. I
hang upside down from silks and walk on my hands. I have an easy
time deeply connecting with people, I'm less about the superficial
and much more into who we are as people, why we're here, and what
makes us tick. Big talk as opposed to little talk. Don't worry, I
have my playful childish side too, I'm not always serious. =)
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea so I started asking:
"The first time we met, you
flew me. I just
remember unclenching my eyes after being suspended in the air and
looking down into your green eyes and just knowing that you weren't
going to drop me. Pretty memorable!"
"Apart from the fire spinning wildly in the air?"
"Your intense eyes that seemed to look into my soul with so much
compassion - you really care."
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I discovered my favorite book when I was a kid: Ender's Game.
Nothing else can ever top that first love.
Movies? That's a long list... here's a few classics that touch me
no matter how many times I watch: Pay it Forward, The Green Mile,
Braveheart - that's a weak start but better than nothing! I enjoy
most every genre.
Music: good morning blues on 89.3 WRFG from 6-10AM. Norah Jones,
Sarah McLachlan, Pearl Jam, old school 80's metal, Led Zep, Pink
Floyd, and of course yoga music. Better said this way: my radio is
usually on Dave FM or the new 99X.
I love all foods, especially flavorful ethnic foods. The spicier,
sweeter, more unusual the better!
The six things I could never do without
Beyond the basic necessities: Friends, Love, Laughter, Nature,
Play, and Music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life. What it's like to see the world through an animal's eyes. I
notice a lot of judgment and attachment in the world, including my
own, I think about how to minimize that. I think about how I'd
build an electric car if only the parts didn't cost so much.
On a typical Friday night I am
I teach yoga and then - who knows. Sometimes I'm tired and want to
take it easy, sometimes I go out, sometimes I'm in the woods.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You mean other than my superfluous third nipple??
You should message me if
...you're happy and you know it (clapping optional).
