My self-summary
Oh I hate this part... I cheated on the three adjectives part- I asked my friends to describe me and they came up with 19 but I narrowed it down to three. lol Let's see... I'm 34, independent, middle class, and have been told that I'm very 'midwest.' In general, I make up my own darned mind about things and am somewhat outspoken. I hate people that think they are better than everyone else. I think patience is a virtue. If you take more than an hour to get ready to go to Wal-mart then we'll probably have issues.

I am clever, playful, and irreverant.
What I’m doing with my life
Moved to SLC a few of years ago from Phoenix and really like it here. I've adjusted to the weather and although I don't like driving in the snow, I love it when you have no where to go and it snows and you can just sit back and watch.

I have a lot of long term goals and am working on those with some shorter ones too. I bought a house a year ago and have been remodeling it and working on it since then. In school working on my MBA. I work a lot, but always make time for things I want to do and things that are important.
I having been working on diet and overall health over the last year. I changed my diet to be much healthier and gave up soda all together. Gym has been a part of that as well as I work towards long term goals.
I feel like I'm at a good place in my life and although I'm happy I often wonder if there isn't someone out there that can bring something more to my life and me to theirs. I'd like to be more active and step outside my comfort zone more and the easiest way to do that is with someone else and that's where you come in!
I’m really good at
Ug. Obviously not at writing about myself if I'm struggling this much... I keep staring at the screen, then the walls, dang I was hoping they would have let me off the hook on this question already... so stalling won't work here I guess. lol Um, let's see... well I am good at Math. I am good at fixing things. I can change a tire in about ten minutes. I'm good at understanding how things work and analyzing systems and discovering patterns. I'm good at listening. I'm good at offering advice to my friends. Oh and I'm really good at eating! lol I usually try to leave things a little better than I found them and I'm good at that. I'm good at managing people. I'm good at making people laugh. I'm good at acting like a clown when I need to. :) (proverbial, not literal)
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty gregarious in social situations usually- especially with people I know. I'm told I'm very confident (never underestimate the ability to fake it!) I usually have foot in mouth syndrome because I don't always say the most 'pc' thing in situations although I always strive for the truth. Oh, and there's not really any off limit subjects with me. I enjoy discussing pretty much anything and everything. Fun (and possibly dangerous) things to discuss are of course the big three: sex, politics, and religion. :) I'm ambitious, optimistic, genuine, loyal, and always try to be there when people need me. I have several close friends, and have kept up friendships with them for many years.

I'm am independent person. I am able to take care of stuff myself when it comes to my personal life. In a significant other, I'm looking for a best friend with whom I sexually compatible that way we can make each others toes curl. ;) But seriously... I'm not looking for the U-haul relationship... I'm looking for something that starts out simple (friends) and moves on to inter-dependence (which is not the same thing as co-dependence.)
I'm pretty straight acting although I do have my moments. I'm not into the 'scene' at all. Although I'm fashionably conscious, I'm more concerned with not looking like a slob when I leave the house than if I have the appropriate brand names on to satisfy people. As I said, I'm pretty "midwest' and I guess as I've aged my values have started to circle back to that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite book series of all time is Dune. I own a TON of books. I like Anne Rice, Christopher Rice, Terry Brooks, Anne McCaffrey, Mary Renault, Christopher Paolini, Dan Savage, the Harry Potter Series, the His Dark Materials series, of course Frank Herbert. Movies and TV are usually either Discovery channel, history channel, military channel or sci fi. TV series selections would be West Wing, Big Bang Theory, Scrubs (was told by a few friends that I'm like Dr. Cox), Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek TNG, and Voyager. Movies would be: Matrix Trilogy, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Legally Blonde, To Wong Fu, Star Wars, Star Trek, Galaxy Quest, Serenity, Contact, Powder, Office Space, Clerks, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Patriot, Master and Commander, Transformers, Dracula, and both Legally Blondes, just to name a few. Music ranges all over the place but I like stuff from the 80's and up. Not much of a fan of rap- or anything that I don't understand the words to or can't sing along to. A few I can think of: The Killers, Jason Mraz, James Blunt, Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood, Melissa Etheridge, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, Sarah McLachlan, Colbie Callait, One Republic, and Martina McBride. Ah food... I can't say that there's a lot of food that I don't like, but I guess my favorites are mexican food (nachos!), fresh baked bread, and cheesey stuff. I will say that after years of working in restaurant and multiple food safety trainings, I'm scared to death of Sushi. No, it's not about that, it's simply a food safety thing. Please note, I don't begrudge anyone else's love of sushi and I will go there with you, but I'll be finding something cooked on the menu. ;)
The six things I could never do without
Wit, intelligent conversation, hope, goals, friends, and food. Material things aren't really that important to me any more. I used to care about them a lot, but then I realized I hated being broke all the time a lot more than I cared about what brand of widget I just bought. I'm very much a function over form kinda guy. Your life is what you make of it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why things are the way they are and then what I can do about them. The Universe. How things work. My life and what I'm doing with it. Questions that people ask me so I can find the answers. Problems that other people have so I can learn from their mistakes. My brain is usually always going... How the truth is sometimes subjective. Why people let their fears rule them. Whether I'd rather be lovingly forgotten or bitterly remembered... lol. Why the dishes couldn't doing the fantasia thing for me right now while I write this. Oh, and sailing. I went on a sail boat ride and was hooked and now plan on taking sailing lessons and getting my own boat. :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing dinner with friends or working around the house. I don't really do the 'scene' and one of my favorite things to do is just get together with friends. I don't really drink, smoke, or do mind altering substances- and trust me you don't want to see this try to dance. (Unless you want to teach me!) I have a roomie who has friends over and they drink and socialize so I spend time with them as well. I do like to tear up some karaoke once in a while. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Heck I don't know... I'm kind of private but I'll tell ya anything you want to know once I get to know ya. Just be prepared for the answer if you're going to ask the question. :)

You should message me if
You don't take yourself or life too seriously (I mean no one gets out alive) and you try not to get hung up on things that don't really matter.
You like to live in a drama free zone.
Anything on my profile sparks your interest.
"Never Give Up, Never Surrender!" is your personal mantra.
Te interesa ser mi amigo (o mas.)
You can't think of a good reason not to...

You are NICE guy. (Do you finish last?) Seriously- if you are nice message me... People who are nice, considerate of other people, caring with regard to feelings, people who hold doors open for other people, help little old ladies cross the street, I mean you! You don't have to be nice all the time, but if you can be nice even when you don't have to, that really says something to me.

Okay you made it this far and haven't gone comatose (or did you) so ____ or get off the pot. :)
