My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I moved to the Raleigh area last year for a new job and have been getting to know the area. I am a logically minded person which can be helpful when I am solving an engineering problem although sometimes some of the subtleties of life go sailing right over my head.
In my hunt for the right career I have been all over the country and feel that it's given me a unique perspective. I have very much enjoyed the journey, but I think I have found my niche in Raleigh.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Swing dancing, board games, quoting moves and song lyrics, karaoke and remembering tons of random information. Generally though, if it put my mind to it I do alright.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hopefully my dashing good looks and sense of style, but more likely either my silly sense of humor, or that fact that I am some kind of human Jukebox/trivia machine.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I guess in the order of the question I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy books, though I get to some non-fiction as well. Some of my more recent reads have been "Stryker: The Siege of Sadr City", the Hunger Games Trilogy, "A Memory of Light" the last book in the Wheel of Time Series and just about anything Honor Harrington.

There are to many good moves out there for me to name though my "Best of All Time" list would have to include Spaceballs, Anchorman, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and The Princess Bride. So I guess that would put Simon Pegg near the top since he is in two of those.

As a rule I don't generally watch a lot of TV, but there are some shows that I like either on netflix or on DVD once the whole season comes out. Generally witty comedy is the rule for these. Archer, Arrested Development, The Venture Bros, and of course the exception, The Walking Dead ...Queue the Mongoltage Stan (bonus points if you know where that came from)

Music is a bit tougher. I grew up on classic rock but in the last few years friends of mine have introduced me to a whole variety of stuff. Some favorites are Johnathan Coulton (silly), Daft Punk (techno), The Who, Tom Petty, Queen, Journey (Classic Rock). As a rule for me my music selection is mood dependant. If I am cooking something: Classic Rock, Stuck in Traffic: Metal, Writing code: Techno, Driving: Silly. Yeah, pretty random.

Food is also hard to categorize. Lasagna and Thai Curry are probably the two contenders for best ever with Sushi a close 3rd. At this point I would be down for giving anything a try as long as it isn't staring back at me (that would be just be weird).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good Friends
Good Books
Good Beer
Board Games (good ones anyway)
Computers (wouldn't have job without them)
Comfy Couch and/or Bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life the universe and everything. Alien invasions, zombies, trips to mars or occasionally real life and where I see myself in a couple of years :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with friends at some hole in the wall, or back at the apartment or playing games, watching a movie or reading a book.
