Philosophical practical joker with a penchant for strange humour and all-round mischief. Often found laughing - or arguing, then taking the other person's position as my own just to try it on for size.
I've been accused of being likable, of being incorrigible, of being funny, shameless, infuriating, comfortable, affectionate, quirky, surprising... or just plain nuts... which for me is a good thing. Which one? All of the above, really.

Have moved recently to Amsterdam from Lisbon, and am having fun discovering the city/country. I think I'll stick around for a good while.

Now? Now we'll see - new people to go with the new place, new places to make 'mine', a new language to learn - and being in the centre of Europe (well, sort of, but close enough) make the immediate future quite interesting.

Making people laugh. Then, usually, they start thinking - then laugh about their thoughts. I'm more than a little 'subversive' - having a talent for quick takes on people and seeing the fun side in almost any situation - or making one up. Most situations in life have a fun story behind them - I like to spot that story, and tell it in unusual ways.

My quirky sense of humor, combined with my tendency to refuse to see a 'problem' in any situation - I turn everything into a solution, a cunning plan - a conspiracy if I'm in a good mood - this usually leaves people with a slight sense of disbelief - "Certainly he's not going to.... oh... he is... he did... he got away with it, too".

While I'm a very logical and systematic kind of person when it comes down to details, my optimism and 'can do' attitude, combined with the constant little smile on my lips make for a slightly larger than life first impression.

I could go on forever about books - I'm a bit of a compulsive reader. I tend to just gobble up whatever comes up - but I DO tend towards fiction - sometimes novels, often science fiction - but anything really that blows my mind, expands my horizons, gives me new points of view or just plain makes me laugh. I am, for instance, currently on the tail end of a major Terry Pratchett binge :)

Movies? Eh... for some reason haven't been to the movies much recently. I do tend to enjoy epics or romantic comedies... but my favorites are timeless - Casablanca, My fair lady, The sound of music, Mary Poppins... yes, an awful lot of musicals there, isn't there? Be that as it may... yes, I do enjoy more serious movies, and the occasional action flick (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars) and sometimes I go arty and/or trendy... but I take my 'food for thought' mostly from books - movies are entertainment.

Music... ok, I'll confess to show tunes. Happy now? Good, moving on... there's an alarming ammount of Suzanne Vega on my playlist... but plenty of Alice Cooper too, and a bunch of classical music, paired nicely with some metal and hard rock... you can give up trying to find a pattern now, I listen to whatever strikes my mood, and am always eager to discover new artists, or entirely new styles.

Food? Food, you say? Portuguese, of course! But also Italian, chinese, japanese.... turkish... err... ok, I just plain like food - and variety is the spice of life.

Friends, intimacy, books, challenges, novelty, a sense of wander and excitement about the world.

thought. Meta-thinking - my running gag is that the most important kind of magic is first sight and second thoughts. I just... like people - how we think, how we feel - what drives us. Yes, I'm also quite into philosophy, politics (though my views are... unorthodox), sociology, religion (though I personally abstain from it) - anything that catches my 'vagabond' attention (which is prone to go on long walks down some tangent, stopping at every chance to smell the flowers and play with the local fauna).

Out and about with friends - I'm not much into clubbing, but I AM conversation, live music, art and whatever some talented people have came up with. Amsterdam is great for this, I've had my concepts of 'art' expanded once or twice since I got here :)

Now now - there's a reason why it's called 'private'. Besides, secrets are like presents - part of the fun is in the unwrapping - anticipation is, after all, the heart of experience. Or close enough anyway :)
