My self-summary
I'm a straight-forward girl. I tend to jump into most things with both feet. When I'm feeling social, I love to play pool, go to a music show, or play games with friends. When I'm feeling more like a home-body, I like to create glass in my studio (I do indeed like to play with fire), work on my home, or read research. Occasionally, my inner geek surfaces, and I must admit, I know my way around a d20. I'm passionate about my profession and it does define a good portion of who I am.

Generally, I'm looking for a guy who can have a conversation; someone who likes to be silly and have fun, but also enjoys the occasional quiet night in. Ideally, I'd like to meet a man who has his "tions:" education (it doesn't have to be school, but he does need enough wit to hold an edge), occupation, habitation (not his mother's basement), transportation (doesn't have to be fancy, he just needs to be able to get himself where he is going), passion (he needs to truly love doing something), and no litigation.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an Autism Specialist. I work in primarily a consultative capacity. I have likened my job to the Wolf from Pulp Fiction - when things have gone terribly wrong (violence, cursing, etc.) I get called in to clean it up. I employ a combination of my training as a Speech Language Pathologist and as a Behavior Analyst. I also give trainings for staff who work directly with students with autism and/or behavioral challenges. This is the part of my life in which I get to use the analytical part of my brain.

I also make and sell art glass. I have my own studio with a propane/oxygen torch. This is the part of my life in which I get to use the gestalt part of my brain. (Funny aside - OKC made me take down the picture in which I was blowing glass. I guess they thought I was doing something drug related. Disappointing, I like that picture).
I’m really good at
playing with fire, thrifting, home repair, playing pool, talking to groups of folks, playing trombone

Figuring out how to get around the OKC requirement that you MUST be in the photo. All you men with portraits of your car better watch out!
The first things people usually notice about me
I use too many big words in conversation.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My best friend and I often ask each other what our top 5 are in any given category. They always change from day to day.

Top 5 books - George R. R. Martin's Ice and Fire series, Rafi Zabor's Bear Comes Home, Temple Grandin's Thinking In Pictures, Audrey Niffenegger's Time Traveler's Wife, and Patti Smith's Just Kids. Oh, and Mary Roach has a new book! I may have to rethink.

Top 5 TV shows - Deadwood, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Justified, Game of Thrones, The Wire - dang! that's 6.

Top 5 movies - This category is harder for me... Amalie, Moulin Rouge, True Grit (new version), The Thin Man, fat girls (a great indie film I watched when I was screening for Tallgrass). I just noticed I went from thin to fat. That was not a cognitive association. I added them to the list at separate times - funny!

Top 5 music - This is also a hard category. I really love psychobilly, tangos, punk, Spanish guitar, bluegrass, indie... hmmmm hard to keep it to 5.

Odd Note
I just discovered that another user lifted this section and is using it as her own. Weird. I didn't know people did that. I guess it shows how amazing my taste is in current pop culture - so amazing, that someone might actually read this section.
The six things I could never do without
I'm going to treat this question as if it says "six things you value above all else." I could certainly do without them if I needed to.
my torch, my pool cue, my childhood teddy bear, my trombone, my sewing machine, my house - I think they are roughly in order of value.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
behaviorism, autism, fire, glass, pool

Currently, I'm sitting on my Lido Deck off the bedroom and daydreaming about my next home improvement project. This evening I'm trying to prioritize between staining concrete floors and painting the house.

Why is there a trend to brag about the use of the Oxford comma? Is this a hipster intellectual thing? Well, if it makes a difference, I know what it is and I use it liberally when making lists. I'm also a fan of curly braces, which I think have a much grander sounding name.

Also of amusing note, whenever I answer one of OKCupid's drug or sex related questions, my visitor notifications blow up. I don't know if it works the same way for guys.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm on my own I will often play in a local pool tournament or go out and listen to some live music - preferably something I can wiggle to. If I'm feeling like a homebody, I'll stay in and melt some glass in my studio.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I learned to ride a bicycle at age 35. It's a lot scarier to learn as a grown up! I currently have the functional age equivalency of an 8 year old when on two wheels.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 33–46
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You can string together a nice message that has more than 3 words. "Hi," and "How you doing?" just really don't give a girl much to go on. If you like my profile (and I hope you do), ask me about the piece that tickled your fancy.

Also, if you have a good recipe for crab cakes. I am evidently incapable of making them.
