My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, my name is Luke. I grew up in Hawaii. Following high school, I went to college at Carnegie Mellon University where I got a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Engineering design. My first job out of college was doing engineering work in Alabama. A few years later, I moved to Washington to be closer to my family. Also, there’s more to do here than there is in Alabama. I love what this state has to offer. I love exploring the beautiful scenery whether it be by hiking, kayaking, etc. through it. I love going to the convention center to see the talent of comic book artists at Comiccon or demoing the next generation of games at PAX. I am a gamer at heart. Board games and card games are what I like to do most when I hang out with friends, video games too.
I’d like to meet someone who is creative. It’s probably because I am a technically minded person and hang out with those types all day at work and I’m just looking for something different. That isn’t to say I don’t value intelligence because that’s important too. I want to meet someone who knows where they stand on issues, can communicate it (nicely), but also understands the other side of the argument. I would not want to meet someone who knows more about Kim Kardashian’s life than what’s going on in congress. Finally, I’d like to meet someone who is a good listener (sorry, that’s cliched). Someone who seeks to understand and not just waiting ‘til I’m finished talking so they can say their own part.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am on business travel doing engineering work. I work a lot of overtime. I am about to transition to a permanent job here.

The particulars of my engineering work are something I cannot talk about.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making spam dishes. It's a Hawaiian thing. Don't ask.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Women seem to give me a hard time about how thin I am. I just shoot back at them, "What? You jealous?"

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Internet, car, teriyaki, smartphone, cat pictures, free time.

(I would have said family, friends, laughter, respect, sleep, and God but then again, it's too typical an answer.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What's going to become of this world? How sustainable is the earth going to be if we add a few extra billion people in the upcoming decades? Why is the divorce rate among Americans so high? Is there something I can invent that no one else has ever seen before? Should I invest in a side business or become an entrepreneur? What am I going to do this weekend?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working overtime.
If I wasn't, I would be playing indoor soccer.

You know where I won't be Friday night? At a bar or dance club.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
How about an embarrassing childhood story?

One time at a museum, the museum curator was talking about sharks to a group of children, myself included. He said, "Does anyone know what kind of animal a shark is?" That's when I blurted out, "A dog!"

My dad was so embarrassed.
