I am adventurous, quirky, and introspective.

My Self-Summary

I'm currently settling back into Boston after spending six months in France working at several different organic farms, which was an awesome experience for me on many different levels. I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering but I'm also very passionate about food and wine (and beer).

I like to stay pretty socially active. I don't really enjoy the club scene but I love to dance so I hit up the Midway fairly often for Queereoke. I also enjoy trying out new things and meeting new people. Right now I'm taking queer tango, volunteering to record textbooks for the blind and trying some drop-in yoga classes while I work on finding a job. I go to a lot of social justice events and I'm working on becoming more active with the issues that I care about, particularly women's rights, queer/trans issues and sustainability.

Whether or not I rock your boat, feel free to check out this new meetup group I started: Queer/Trans Foodies (and Friends!)

Also, if you would like to know way more than you ever wanted to about my professional background and/or you want to network, feel free to check out My Online Portfolio

What I’m doing with my life

Right now I'm looking for a job in product design and/or anything utilizing my mechanical engineering degree but I could very likely be doing something different in a couple years. The idea I'm toying with at the moment is starting up my own catering business.

I’m really good at

Cooking. Listening and giving thoughtful advice. Sports. Dancing and singing unabashedly. Being honest about what I think/feel. Math problems.

The first things people usually notice about me

The fact that I have freckles is probably what gets remarked upon most often.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Fair warning, I generally suck at answering these types of questions. It's a lot better if it comes up naturally rather than in list format but here goes:

Music: I really and truly enjoy listening to anything that makes me want to shake my butt, tap my feet or sing along. That definitely includes rap and country. I'm always open to discovering a new band/artist/genre. Off the top off my head, some of my favorites are: Alanis Morisette, Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, Dixie Chicks, Lauryn Hill, Eric Clapton, Feist, Lionel Ritchie/Commodores, Mariah Carey, Hootie and the Blowfish, Sugarland, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs...

Movies: Watching a movie is one of my favorite low-key ways to spend an evening, I can easily watch 2 or 3 in a row. I wouldn't really call myself a movie buff though, I just enjoy them. Some of my favorites are: Amelie, Shortbus, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Lord of the Rings, The Notebook, Pulp Fiction, Sideways...

Books: I generally tend to read more non-fiction, mostly about food and wine or science but some of my favorite works of fiction are: Me Talk Pretty One Day, 1984, Catcher in the Rye, Ender's Game, The Giver, Harry Potter, and Stone Butch Blues.

Food: I'm working on perfecting my MacGyverr cooking techniques but I also really like to try random recipes drawing from a wide range of cuisines, particularly French, Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese and Korean.

The six things I could never do without

My computer and internet access, good food, music, friends/family, discovery.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to be a better person, in the sense that I try to always make sure that I'm challenging myself to improve. How to live my life in a way that I will be proud of in fifty years while still making sure that I'm enjoying myself in the now in case I don't get that opportunity.

On a typical Friday night I am

I like medium-sized house parties that start out as mingling and then evolve into dancing and silliness. Dinner parties, game nights, movie outings, trivia, open mics...I'm up for a lot of different kinds of things.

You should message me if

I'm pretty open to meeting a variety of different types of people. If you like what you've read so far, then definitely give it a shot and send me a message. In terms of attraction, I prefer women on the more feminine end of the spectrum but the expression thereof is definitely open to your interpretation.

You should probably know that I generally like to meet people fairly quickly (as in after one or two online conversations) as I have found that that works the best for me in balancing the usefulness of this site with the inherent challenges of online dating. I'm very friendly and generally easy to get along with though so while I can't promise an amazing date, I can say that it's highly unlikely you won't have at least a pretty good time as I can carry on a conversation for an hour with almost anyone :)
