My self-summary
hmmm... how to summarize my life wittily into an elevator speech essentially.... here goes:

I'm a Bay Area native - 6th gen. Californian. That means I'm laid back, know good spots in the hood and am pretty outgoing.

I'm an ex-outdoor guide who has tinkered at many things and am now teaching Spanish at my girl's elementary school (sperm-donor with strings attached).

I'm always looking for down to earth, fun (and handsome) folk to adventure (and there are many ways to adventure) in life with and hopefully have a sweet connection that can develop into more.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm really loving my job at a Waldorf School in the East Bay - settling in and feeling like Im actually starting to know what I'm doing. My job asks me to sing, craft, move and engage with kids from 7-14 which keeps me on my feet.

In order to be present and healthy I'm hitting yoga 1-2x a week, going to Masters swimming 2-3x a week, riding my bike and exploring my meditation practice.

I'm learning more about the environment constantly, fighting off underlying dread for the survival of the majority of our species and making my house a cuter place.

Adventuring with my kid…. hanging with friends…. and taking naps. when I can.
I’m really good at
interacting with people, tearing through a good book, rocking a huge day long hike, whipping up a good meal, planning trip logistics for domestic and international adventure travel... and overbooking myself, evidently.
The first things people usually notice about me
my smile, laugh and twinkle in my eyes...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
favorites are hard for me...

books i've liked: Year of the Flood, The World Without Us; Weather of the Future; Zeitoun; Drag Queen; 1984; Handmaid's Tale; Power of One; Omnivore's Dilemma; Fried Green Tomatoes; Time Traveler's Wife. I also dig star charts, hiking books, field guides, herb books, and crafting manuals...

movies i've enjoyed: Silver Linings Playbook, Cabin in the Woods (hey Joss!), Fantastic Mr. Fox, Casino Royale (i want to do parkour), Hedwig and The Angry Inch (and Shortbus) , I'm Going to Tell You a Secret (oh madonna) , Xanadu (oh Olivia), The Game (oh David Fincher), Donnie Darko, Charade (oh Audrey), Women on the Verge... and The Skin I'm In (oh Pedro), Let the Right One In (oh vampires).... brainless but fun kung fu, entertaining action, scary horror, actually funny comedies (no Hangover, please)...

Directors: Wong Kar Wai, Tsui Hark, Hitchcock, Joss Whedon, Almodavar.

shows: if there's more than one season, I can't do it... isn't there more to life? That said I'll stop in my tracks for some RuPaul.

music that's been stuck on play in the past: 70's soul for sure...., Kelis, ELO, ONJ, Keyshia Cole, Erykah Badu, Burial, Antony and The Johnsons, Raheem DeVaughn, Jose Gonzales, SBTRKT, Washed Out, The Weeknd, Sufjan Stevens, Hall & Oates, Memory Tapes, jj, Notwist, Frank Ocean, Solange, Hercules and Love Affair, anything Gilles Peterson, Belle and Sebastian, YACHT, XX, The Blow, John Legend, Trentemoller, Miguel Migs, Roy Davis Jr., David Harness, Kate Bush, etc...

food: totally love Brussel Sprouts and bacon, a thick Mac and cheese and or butternut squash soup - its cold out there fellas!
The six things I could never do without
my bike
music
open space and a way to get to it
water / food
time with my kid
and a library card - they're my favorite non-profit.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the future... our planet... places to travel... massive adventure trips... what to teach my kids next week
On a typical Friday night I am
sleeping? watching a movie? grabbing a drink with friends? not really too typical...

A typical Saturday involves a wander / enjoying being outside.... maybe a bike ride or gardening or surfing or running or … or …. or…..
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
gurl... I've got all kinds of things. Ask away.
