My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
How does one sum up themselves in a few paragraphs. It isn’t an easy task but I’m a woman who isn’t afraid of tough things so here we go.

I have learned a few things on these 41 some odd revolutions around the sun...People are wonderful and complicated creatures. All of us. We’ve all done good and we’ve all done bad and we all have our story and nothing we do can change the past. And all of our stories are amazing. I have learned that being real and being seen are better than people thinking some fake version of you is great.

I’m a big fan of Augusten Burroughs - he once wrote the following:

“If you meet somebody and they love you when you are your true, awful, not ready yet, boring, not cool enough, not handsome enough, not pretty enough, too fat, too poor self? And if you love them back so much it makes you calm? And they have flaws and you do not mind a single one of them?

That means you get yourself to the church and you pull one of those priests out of bed and you have him cast one of those wedding spells on you.

Because if you found that, you found it,”

I love that. It isn’t so much about getting married but about finding the one who gets you and accepts you and the one that you get and you accept. That’s really the best!

I love fun. I have a silly streak a mile long and I speak sarcasm fluently. I sing (sometimes badly) very loudly in my car ….and in the kitchen….the shower….walking down the street. Hopefully you get the point. I often forget that I am at work and start singing. Thankfully the people who sit near me find this endearing. I have an amazing group of friends. If you can judge the quality of person by their friends then I am one of the best out there. I know just how blessed I am to be surrounded by the people I have.

I love music - live or on the radio. A great night for me is going to a lovely meal and then to see one of my favourite bands play. (details on tastes below). I love dining out and I love cooking. I love throwing a dinner party. I also love just ordering pizza and watching a movie. Mostly I love to be surrounded by people who make me think, who make me laugh and who love me just as I am.

I’m pretty active. Whether it be an exercise class at the gym (which always seem to happen at 5:30 am - lord help me!), or a hike in a park or just running around being goofy. I like moving and I prefer to do it with others or it gets a smidge boring, don't you agree?

I could spend an entire day in a museum (and have). I could spend an entire day in a movie theater (and have - I even ran away once to the Sundance Film Festival). I could get in the car and drive until I find a pretty place to sit or explore. I could visit wineries, breweries (preferably with a nice mix of hoppy beers...why yes, I prefer beer that tastes like grapefruit and pine needles, thank you very much) , fun new restaurants or old favs. I could just hop the train to the city and see where my nose takes me that day. Or I could spend a quiet day at home alone or with someone - watch some movies, talk, cook a great meal and enjoy each other's company.

I have a passion for art, music and politics (yes, I love to discuss them, yes I can get REALLY annoyed with the current environment - but I'm also the go to person when my friends have questions about the process - the joys of a degree in Poli Sci, I suppose. It should be said from the outset that I am a die-hard liberal). I love to learn about the world, cultures, history and stories. I really just love the stories that people have to share whether they do it through art, music, politics, storytelling. I am just fascinated by people.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Ain't that a question for the ages??? I suppose living it is a suitable answer. Questions? Just ask!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Speaking bad high school French? Finding good parking spaces? Picking paint colors?

I'm really open, loving and accepting. I am one of the least judgmental people I know and as a result I am the confidant and secret keeper of many of my nearest and dearest and I hold that as a huge honor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm funny. I'm silly. I have pretty eyes (and 2 of them, thankfully!) and that I am a woman. These are all pretty obvious things!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Really? REALLY?????? Ok this is tough, let's see:

Music: Greg Laswell, Keane, Barenaked Ladies, Moxy Fruvous, Indigo Girls, The Killers, Peter Gabriel, REM, U2, Death Cab, Depeche Mode, Brendan James, Knots & Crosses and on and on and on. I read other's profiles and I see bands and nod my head...yup yup yup. Easiest thing to say is I don't care much for Nashville country, heavy metal or rap. But I'm sure you could find songs in those genres I love too. Music is HUGE for me. Song lyrics were the first poetry I learned about and they stick with me forever. I know the words (or think I do) to so many songs. I can get so into a song that depending on who the people are in my life at the time - a song can become a person for me. It's weird but it happens and then forever that song is that person. I actually love that because I feel like I can connect with someone even when they aren't with me.

Books: I like to read things from biographies, to great literature to something that is just plain fun. I go in fits and starts with reading - I'll do nothing but for a while and then it can be a while before I pick up a book or my Kindle. And I often have a few books going at once.

Movies: Love 'em. Generally not into shoot 'em up sorts of things but...I'll go see almost anything. If I have to pick though - When Harry Met Sally, Bright Lights Big City, Once, Garden State, Lost in Translation, Pleasantville, Princess Bride, Purple Rose of Cairo (and if you want, I will defend it over Midnight in Paris which I loved as well but I felt like was a lesser incarnation) and on and on... I spent a month at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 - it was an amazing experience both for the films and the experience but suffice to say - I like movies.

TV: I don't watch a ton of current TV. That said, some of my fav shows include - West Wing, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Buffy, Mad Men, Family Ties, ER, Sex and the City

Food: Yup - I eat it. I also cook it very well. I also have some odd food rules.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My friends
and things and stuff
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The people I love and how to make the world and everyone's lives better. Cheesy, but true. I often think about who should be invited to my next dinner party.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Spending time with my friends, going out to dinner, going to the movies? Basically....I don't cook on Friday nights and will do whatever it takes to keep me from having to do it. (well, not WHATEVER it takes!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
