My self-summary
I was an SCA Volunteer and then I served in the Peace Corps...Still pursuing a life of service, maybe I am a bit of an idealist, but I'm ok with that...I do wish we could find a way to get rid of war once and for all...peace, love and happiness.

And yet, I also LOVE all things spooky, fantastical and horror-tinged...Dark comedies too...Kind of a grab bag of goodies...shouldn't life be that way? ;)

I don't ever want to have a job where I have to spend most of my time behind a desk, under the fluorescent lights...aaaaargh!...even if they want to pay me an outrageous amount of money.

I am a flower, lyrical, and scientific
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working in a field that I love (something I actually went to college for! *gasp*...seems kinda rare [and lucky] these days)...

Sometimes, in my spare time, I like to backpack into the woods, set up camp under the stars...don't get me wrong. I can run around town too (diners-don't you love those hole-in-the-wall/family owned-type diners?-, movies, people-watching)...

...I'm more than just a nature girl.......

I’m really good at
I don't know if I'm necessarily good at it, but I love to sing (care to harmonize?)...I also have a thing for jigsaw puzzles (the kookier, the better!).
The first things people usually notice about me
I get a lot of comments about my long blonde hair...people say I have a nice smile...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
You know, I just like to mix up things in life, really. I don't like to be pigeonholed into a box as far as interests go...I always have a book going...all kinds of genres (a few of my favorite authors): Sci-fi/Fantasy: Alfred Bester, Samuel Delany, Harlan Ellison. Classic literature & Fiction: Henry Miller, Haruki Murakami, Mikhail Bulgakov, Knut Hamsun. Horror: H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Shirley Jackson, Neil Gaiman and Christopher Moore (even if he's on the funny side of horror!).

As far as movies go, give me some B-ish horror movies (think Evil Dead, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Chinese Ghost Story and Curse of the Demon), independent/foreign films (Love Liza, Raise the Red Lantern), The Muppets, David Lynch and pretty much anything with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I've been making mix tapes for all kinds of lovely people since the 80's. Nowadays, I've moved up to mix cd'show times change, huh? Albums sure do sound good on a cd, very warm sound (even with all the crackles and popsI like those too).

It's an art form, really, a beautiful way to communicate

A small sample of some artists you might find on one of my compilations: David Bowie, old Alice Cooper, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Seals and Crofts (there's nothing quite like those 70's songs), Pink Floyd, Afghan Whigs...

I'm a sucker for clever lyrics, really.

I wouldn't say no to a frosty glass of ice cold Coca-Cola and fresh popcorn from the top of the stove, with melted butter and salt, of course! Naughty but yummy. ;)
The six things I could never do without
Books I haven't read, super-ripe tomatoes, sleeping in on Sundays, changing leaves in the fall, rainy days and my imagination.
On a typical Friday night I am
So very happy to be done with the work week-yea! I could be anywhere but a bar (including dancing to 80's music, doing the movie thing or getting a little book action at home).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a thing for watching people sleep.
